- The Chelsea ticket exchange is the club's own resale service. Season ticket holders and members list tickets, and members without a ticket for that game can buy them.
- A home game runs in stages: listing opens, then a priority period for applicants who lost, then all members. It closes three hours before kick-off.
- True Blue+, True Blue, CFC Blue and Junior Blue members can buy. The £15 Ticket Forwarding Membership cannot.
- Exchange purchases are non-refundable. If a listed ticket does not sell, the seller gets no credit, though a season ticket seat still counts as used.
- As of 31 October 2026, the Chelsea v Leeds priority period is open. Crystal Palace and Liverpool have no exchange dates yet.
The Chelsea ticket exchange is the club’s own resale service for men’s matches. Season ticket holders and members list tickets they cannot use, and members without a ticket for that game buy them. A home game opens in stages, with priority for applicants who lost the ballot, and closes three hours before kick-off.

What is the Chelsea ticket exchange?
The Chelsea ticket exchange is a part of the club’s ticketing website where unwanted tickets are sold on to other fans. Chelsea plays at Stamford Bridge in Fulham, west London, which holds about 40,000 people, and many home games sell out to members.
Those games are sold through an application window, a ballot for each match. Once the window closes and tickets are allocated, the exchange is the club’s next route to a seat.
Think of it as a second chance. It uses the club’s own system, and a seat is sold at the member price for that match. Season ticket holders use it when they cannot go, and members can too if they already hold a match ticket.
Who can use the Chelsea ticket exchange?
Chelsea True Blue+, True Blue, CFC Blue and Junior Blue members can buy on the ticket exchange, and so can season ticket holders. The one condition is that you do not already hold a ticket for that game.
| Who you are | Can you buy? | Can you sell? |
|---|---|---|
| True Blue+, True Blue or CFC Blue member | Yes | Yes, if you hold a match ticket |
| Junior Blue member, under 16 | Yes | Not listed by the club |
| Season ticket holder | Yes, for a game you have no ticket for | Yes |
| Ticket Forwarding member | No. You can only receive a ticket | No |
Not in one of the buying tiers? The Chelsea membership guide compares them, from CFC Blue at £45 to True Blue+ at £80.
When does the Chelsea ticket exchange open?
The Chelsea ticket exchange opens in stages for each home game, on dates the club posts on its on-sale dates page. These stages usually run in this order:
- Listing: holders can put a seat up from the day the application window opens, often weeks before the game.
- Priority period: once results are out, applicants who lost can buy first. The club tells them by email.
- All members: the exchange opens to every eligible member, together with ticket forwarding, the service that sends a ticket to another member.
- Closing: both stop three hours before kick-off.
These are this season’s real dates so far, as shown by Chelsea on 31 October 2026:
| Home game | Listing opens | Priority period | All members |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manchester United, Saturday 31 October, 12.30pm | Monday 21 September | Monday 12 October | 11am, Monday 26 October. Closed at 9.30am on matchday |
| Leeds, Saturday 21 November, 3pm | Monday 12 October | Monday 26 October | To be confirmed |
| Crystal Palace, Wednesday 2 December, 7.30pm | To be confirmed | To be confirmed | To be confirmed |
| Liverpool, Saturday 5 December, 12.30pm | To be confirmed | To be confirmed | To be confirmed |
So a fan who lost the Leeds ballot could buy from 26 October. A fan who skipped that ballot must wait for the all-member date.
How do you buy on the Chelsea ticket exchange?
To buy on the Chelsea ticket exchange, log in to the club’s ticketing website during a stage you qualify for, then pick a seat for the game. Follow these steps:
- Apply in the application window first. Only unsuccessful applicants get the priority period, so a losing entry still helps you.
- Watch your email. The priority period is announced to eligible applicants by email, and the general opening on the club’s buy tickets page.
- Log in. Your Chelsea account works on the website, the app and the ticketing site.
- Open the match and look for the ticket exchange button.
- Choose a seat and pay by card or with account credit, money held on your ticket account.
- Check the Chelsea Official App. Home tickets are digital, and you show them at the turnstile.
How can you improve your chances of finding a seat?
You improve your chances on the Chelsea ticket exchange by checking more than once, because seats can appear at any time until it closes.
- Check late as well as early. Holders can list until three hours before kick-off, so new seats can appear on the day.
- Look out for returned tickets. Tickets that come back to the club through cancellations, failed payments or broadcaster changes go on sale online once the exchange has opened.
- Stay open on area. If you lost the ballot, you can tell the club you would buy outside your preferred area.
- Keep your card ready. Check your payment details before the stage you qualify for begins.
How do you sell on the Chelsea ticket exchange?
To sell on the Chelsea ticket exchange, log in, select “Manage” for the match and use the ticket exchange button. You can list until three hours before kick-off, a deadline the club extended to cover late changes of plan.
- If it does not sell: you receive no credit for that match, and the club does not refund you.
- Season ticket holders: a listed seat counts as used, even if it does not sell. There is no limit on how often you can list, and the person who attends earns the loyalty points.
- Account credit: this can go towards away tickets, exchange purchases or a season ticket renewal. Chelsea also offers set times to withdraw it as cash.
- Example: for Sunderland away, it ran from 2pm on Monday 26 October to 3pm on Friday 30 October.
- Who can buy: fans who could have bought for that game. If the game was sold on loyalty points, you need those points.
- Points: the first buyer keeps them, and the new holder earns them too.
- Disabled supporters: they can list on a dedicated away ticket exchange.
- Skipping the window: without an entry, you miss the priority period.
- Buying too soon: exchange purchases are non-refundable, so buy only when you are sure you can go.
- Waiting for match week: an older club guide says the button appears in the week before a match, but listing now opens far earlier.
- Forgetting the adult rule: anyone under 16 must attend with, and sit next to, someone aged 18 or over.
- First-timers: buy a membership, enter the window, then use your priority if you lose.
- Families: keep the rule for under-16s in mind before you buy a single seat.
- Fans travelling from far away or abroad: book trains and hotels you can change, because a seat may not appear.
- Not worth it if: you hold no buying membership and need one fixed game. Club Chelsea hospitality or the other routes to Chelsea tickets may suit you better.
- Crystal Palace and Liverpool: no exchange dates yet.
- Aston Villa and Newcastle: application windows not announced.
- Nottingham Forest away: on sale to season ticket holders on Thursday 5 November, then to members at 2pm.
Should you list your ticket or forward it?
List your ticket if you do not know anyone who can go, and forward it if a friend or relative can use it. You cannot do both, because a forwarded ticket can no longer be listed.
| What differs | Ticket exchange | Ticket forwarding |
|---|---|---|
| Who gets the seat | An eligible member who buys it | A person you choose, who must be an eligible member |
| Who can receive it | Buying tiers only | Also a friend on the £15 Ticket Forwarding Membership |
| When a season ticket counts as used | As soon as it is listed | Only if the person scans in |
How much does a Chelsea ticket exchange seat cost?
A Chelsea ticket exchange seat costs the member price for that area and that match’s category, the price band Chelsea gives each game. Leeds and Crystal Palace are Category A, and Liverpool is Category AA, the top band.
| Category AA, adult member | Price |
|---|---|
| East Upper or West Lower | £78 |
| Matthew Harding Upper, Shed Upper or East Lower South | £71 |
| Matthew Harding Lower or Shed Lower | £66 |
| East Lower North Family Centre | £52 |
| Restricted view, East Upper | £52 |
| Restricted view, Matthew Harding Lower | £27 |
A restricted view seat has something partly in the way. Chelsea’s exchange guide lists no separate fee for buyers or sellers, so check the total before you pay. The guide to Chelsea ticket prices covers every category.
Your price class comes from your date of birth, so ask tickets@chelseafc.com to fix any error before you buy.
Do you earn loyalty points on a Chelsea exchange ticket?
You earn Chelsea loyalty points on an exchange ticket once it is scanned at the turnstile, a change that started in 2026/27. Loyalty points are the club’s record of the games you attend. They decide who can apply for the most wanted games, and they rank fans on the season ticket waitlist.
This makes the exchange more useful than it looks. A seat for a lower-demand game can help you qualify for a bigger one, such as Liverpool, which needed 11 points. The Chelsea season ticket guide explains the waitlist.
Do away tickets go on the Chelsea ticket exchange?
Chelsea away tickets go on a separate away ticket exchange, which runs for a short time and closes seven to ten days before the game. It gives the club time to process resold tickets.
What mistakes should you avoid on the Chelsea ticket exchange?
The main mistakes on the Chelsea ticket exchange are skipping the application window, buying before your plans are fixed and waiting for an old timetable.
Why is the Chelsea ticket exchange not working?
If the Chelsea ticket exchange is not working for you, the stage you qualify for may not be open yet. Check the on-sale dates, then check that you are logged in to the right account and hold no ticket for that game. If that fails, email tickets@chelseafc.com.
Who is the Chelsea ticket exchange best for?
The Chelsea ticket exchange is best for members who lost a ballot and can act quickly on a set date. It suits fans who have fixed plans, because a purchase cannot be undone.
What happens on matchday with an exchange ticket?
A Chelsea exchange ticket works like any other home ticket, so you need the Chelsea Official App on your phone at the turnstile. Fulham Broadway on the District line is the nearest Tube station to Stamford Bridge, and West Brompton and Imperial Wharf are about a 15-minute walk away.
Aim to be inside 30 minutes before kick-off. Bags must be no larger than A4, and entry stops after the 60th minute. Fulham Road closes to traffic before the game, so do not plan on being dropped at the door.
What to do now (as of 31 October 2026)
As of 31 October 2026, the Chelsea v Leeds priority period is open to applicants who lost, and the all-member date has not been announced. If you lost the Liverpool window, which closed on Thursday 29 October, watch your email for a priority notice.
For a sold-out game with no exchange seats, resale listings at live prices are on the Stamford Bridge tickets page.
Frequently asked questions
How does the Chelsea ticket exchange work?
Season ticket holders and members who cannot attend list their tickets on the club's ticketing website, and other members without a ticket for that game buy them. For home games, applicants who lost the application window get priority, then all members can buy. The exchange closes three hours before kick-off.
When does the Chelsea ticket exchange open?
The Chelsea ticket exchange opens in stages for each home game. Holders can list from the day the application window opens, unsuccessful applicants get a priority period once results are out, then all members get in. For Manchester United at home: listing from 21 September, priority from 12 October, all members from 11am on 26 October.
When does the Chelsea ticket exchange close?
The Chelsea ticket exchange closes three hours before kick-off for home games. For Manchester United at home on Saturday 31 October, kick-off was 12.30pm and it closed at 9.30am. Away ticket exchanges close much earlier, between seven and ten days before the game, so the club can process resold tickets.
Who can buy on the Chelsea ticket exchange?
True Blue+, True Blue, CFC Blue and Junior Blue members can buy, and so can season ticket holders, as long as they do not already hold a ticket for that match. Applicants who lost the application window go first. Ticket Forwarding members cannot buy, because they can only receive a forwarded ticket.
How do I log in to the Chelsea ticket exchange?
Log in to your account on Chelsea's ticketing website, using the same details as chelseafc.com and the Chelsea Official App. Select the match and use the ticket exchange button. If you cannot see an option, the stage you qualify for may not be open, so check the on-sale dates page and your email.
Are Chelsea ticket exchange purchases refundable?
No. Tickets bought on the Chelsea ticket exchange are non-refundable, so buy only when your plans are fixed. If you cannot go after buying, you can forward the ticket to an eligible member. You can also try listing it on the exchange, but the club will not repay you if it does not sell.
What happens if my ticket does not sell on the Chelsea exchange?
Chelsea gives you no credit if a listed ticket does not sell. To improve your chances, list as soon as listing opens, or forward the ticket to an eligible member, such as a friend with the £15 Ticket Forwarding Membership. For season ticket holders, a listed seat still counts as used under the club's rules.
Do you get loyalty points on a Chelsea exchange ticket?
Yes. Since 2026/27, Chelsea gives loyalty points to the person who attends on an exchange ticket, as long as it is scanned at the turnstile. A season ticket holder who lists a seat does not get those points. Points count towards later in-demand games and the season ticket waitlist.
Do away tickets go on the Chelsea ticket exchange?
Yes, on a separate away ticket exchange. It runs for a short time and closes seven to ten days before the game. For Sunderland away it ran from 2pm on Monday 26 October to 3pm on Friday 30 October. If the game was sold on loyalty points, you need those points to buy.
