Simple plan, not to scale.

The St James’ Park seating plan has four stands and 52,719 seats. Level 1 is close to the pitch, and Level 7 sits high above it. The Gallowgate End is the traditional home end, the Strawberry Corner beside it holds the singing section, and away fans sit on Level 7 of the Leazes Stand.

Every match here is on the St James’ Park tickets page. The Newcastle tickets page explains how the club sells each one.

How does the St James’ Park seating plan work?

The St James’ Park seating plan works by stand, then level, then section, row and seat. St James’ Park is the home of Newcastle United, in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, postcode NE1 4ST. A stand is one side of the ground, and a level is one layer of seats in that stand.

The Milburn Stand and East Stand run along the touchlines, the long edges of the pitch. The Gallowgate Stand and Leazes Stand sit behind the goals. The club’s price bands are called categories, and they run from 1 to 3.

Stand Where it is Who sits there View and atmosphere Price level
Milburn Stand West touchline, Barrack Road side Home fans, premium seats and the Family Area The main stand, with a side-on view Category 1 on Level 1, Category 2 on Level 7
East Stand East touchline, Leazes Terrace side Home fans. The smallest stand Side-on view, with the singing section at the Gallowgate end Category 1 in the centre, Category 2 in the corners
Gallowgate Stand Behind the south goal Home fans. The traditional home end View from behind the goal, among vocal fans Category 2
Leazes Stand Behind the north goal Home fans lower down, away fans on Level 7 View from behind the goal Category 3 in some sections, Category 2 elsewhere

The club’s Our Stadium page links to its Stadium Map and to its Seating Categories plan, the official St James’ Park stadium seating plan. The map shows turnstiles, the entry gates, plus accessible entrances, toilets and food outlets, so check it if you are new to the ground.

How do you read the section names at St James’ Park?

St James’ Park section names give the level first, then a letter. L1C is Level 1, section C, close to the pitch. L7K is Level 7, section K, high up. A double L, as in LL7A or LL2B, marks the lower strip of seats on that level.

Rows are lettered from the front, so rows X and Y are at the very back of Level 7.

Is there a St James’ Park seating plan with seat numbers?

Your exact seat number is on your digital ticket, a pass held on your phone. The ticket lists your stand, turnstile, area, access point, row and seat number. The access point is your way into the section.

For the view from a real seat, fans use photo sites such as A View From My Seat. 3D Digital Venue also has a 3D view of the ground.

Does the plan change for a concert at St James’ Park?

Yes. A concert at St James’ Park has its own layout, so the football plan does not apply. Searching for a Sam Fender seating plan, or any other show? Use the seat map on the seller’s page for that date. As of 31 October 2026, the St James’ Park tickets page lists football only.

What is each stand like at St James’ Park?

Each stand at St James’ Park has its own role, from the traditional home end to the away section. Here is what to expect in each one.

Gallowgate Stand: the traditional home end

The Gallowgate Stand is behind the south goal, and it is the traditional home of Newcastle’s more vocal fans. Its seats are Category 2. The Rooftops with Fenwick, a hospitality space with food and drink, is at the top.

Milburn Stand: the main stand

The Milburn Stand is the main stand, along the west touchline, and it is named after Jackie Milburn. Level 1 has touchline seats in Category 1. The Platinum Club and Bar 1892 are on Level 2, corporate hospitality is on Level 4, and the Family Area is on Level 7. The Club Shop is underneath.

East Stand: the smallest stand

The East Stand is the smallest of the four, along the east touchline. Its central blocks are Category 1, and its corners are Category 2. The corner nearest the Gallowgate Stand is the Strawberry Corner.

Leazes Stand: home fans and the away end

The Leazes Stand is behind the north goal, and it was once called the Sir John Hall Stand. The front of Level 1, sections L1A to L1F, and the corner sections L4A to L4F are Category 3. Away fans fill Level 7, and Wings and Park Grill hospitality are also here.

What is the Strawberry Corner at St James’ Park?

The Strawberry Corner is the south-east corner of St James’ Park, where the Gallowgate Stand meets the East Stand. It is a safe-standing area, a section where fans can stand during the game. It is now the base of the singing section. The club added more safe-standing areas on Level 7 in summer 2026.

How much does each part of St James’ Park cost?

St James’ Park seats are priced by area, and a 2026/27 adult season ticket costs from £380 at the back of Level 7. A season ticket is one payment for your seat at every home league game. These are the club’s published season prices for each part of the ground.

Area Where on the plan Adult Under 18
Category 1 Level 1 of the Milburn Stand, centre of the East Stand £987 £343
Category 2 Most of the rest, including the Gallowgate Stand £801 £228
Category 3 Leazes Stand sections L1A to L1F and L4A to L4F £730 £183
Family Area Level 7 of the Milburn Stand £507 £90
Level 7, rows X and Y The back two rows of Level 7 £380 £85
Bar 1892 Level 2 of the Milburn Stand £1,245 £516
Platinum Club Level 2 of the Milburn Stand £1,404 £584

Members buying one game also pay by category and area. The Newcastle season ticket guide has every age band, the waiting list and the rules.

Where is the best place to sit at St James’ Park?

The best seats at St James’ Park are the Strawberry Corner for noise, Level 1 of a side stand for the view, and the back of Level 7 for price.

  • Best for atmosphere: the Strawberry Corner and the Gallowgate End around it. This is where the singing section is based.
  • Best for a close view: Level 1 of the Milburn Stand or the middle of the East Stand, both Category 1. You are side-on and near the pitch.
  • Best for seeing the whole game: Level 7. Height lets you follow the shape of the team, though you are far from the players.
  • Best for families: the Family Area on Level 7 of the Milburn Stand.
  • Best for value: rows X and Y of Level 7, then the Category 3 sections in the Leazes Stand.
  • First visit? Sit along the touchline, in the Milburn or East Stand, to see the full pitch and the Gallowgate End at once.

What mistakes should you avoid when choosing a seat at St James’ Park?

The biggest mistakes at St James’ Park are forgetting how high Level 7 is, and driving to the ground.

  • Booking Level 7 without checking the climb. If anyone in your group has limited mobility, ask the club about lifts and entrances first.
  • Expecting all of Level 7 to be open to you. Sections L7F to L7M are for away fans, and L7A to L7E are the Family Area. The club’s map marks section L7E as sold on matchdays only.
  • Taking a child to the safe-standing area for a first game. Fans stand there, so a small child may not see much. A seated area is an easier start.
  • Planning to park at the ground. There is no dedicated supporter parking.

Can you choose your own seat at St James’ Park?

Yes, you can choose your own seat at St James’ Park if you win a Mags members’ ballot, a free prize draw for the right to buy. Winners have 48 hours to pick seats in their chosen area and pay. Here is how it works for Newcastle v Manchester United on Wednesday 2 December at 8.15pm.

  1. Join first. You need The Mags, Mags+ or Junior Mags, the club’s paid memberships. The Mags costs £39, and the Newcastle membership guide compares all three.
  2. Enter the ballot. It opened at midday on Monday 2 November and closes at midday on Tuesday 3 November.
  3. Check your result. Winners hear before 11am on Wednesday 4 November.
  4. Pick and pay. Seat selection runs from midday on Wednesday 4 November to midday on Friday 6 November.
  5. Lost the ballot? The Mags Member Sale, an online sale for members with no ticket for that game, opens at 10am on Monday 9 November.
  6. Still no seat? Once a game sells out, members can buy seats resold by season ticket holders, first come, first served, until three hours before kick-off.

Season ticket holders are the only fans who keep the same seat all season.

Where do away fans sit at St James’ Park?

  • Getting in: the away turnstiles, numbered 89 to 94, are on the north side of the ground.
  • Timing: allow extra time for the climb, because turnstiles only open 90 minutes before kick-off.
  • Buying: away fans buy through their own club, so check its ticket page for the sale.
  • Limited mobility? Lifts serve the Leazes Stand, but speak to your club about the right entrance before you travel.

Where is the family area at St James’ Park?

The family area at St James’ Park is on Level 7 of the Milburn Stand, in sections L7A to L7E. It is a section for adults with children, with its own activities before kick-off.

  • Who can go: supporters aged 18 and over must have a child with them to enter the area.
  • What happens there: family activities, photo opportunities and the chance to meet Monty and Maggie, the club’s mascots.
  • Prices: an adult season ticket is £507, and an under-18 pays £90.
  • Single games: pick the Family Stand area when you enter the ballot. Each child needs a Junior Mags membership of their own, at £20.

  • Hearing and sight: the ground has hearing loops and audio descriptive commentary, a spoken description of the game.
  • Sensory needs: headphones and sensory toys are available on request.

The club’s Accessibility page also has an Access Statement guide to download, in English, German and Italian.

Where is hospitality on the St James’ Park seating plan?

Hospitality at St James’ Park, a seat with food and drink, is spread across the Milburn, Leazes and Gallowgate stands. The club sells it separately, and it sits outside the members’ ballot.

Platinum Club and Bar 1892 Level 2 of the Milburn Stand Premium seats, sold as bar memberships
Tidings Leazes West corner The club’s newest space, with pitch-facing booths and an all-inclusive bar
Wings and Park Grill Leazes Stand Corporate hospitality
The Rooftops with Fenwick Top of the Gallowgate Stand Corporate hospitality

The club spent £10 million on hospitality in summer 2026. That covered Tidings, the Chairman’s Suite, Icons, the Barracks, Four Corners and Moncur Suites, and 22 executive boxes. Packages for 2026/27 are on sale at book.newcastleunited.com.

How do you get to St James’ Park, and where can you park?

The easiest way to get to St James’ Park is the Metro, because St James station sits directly beside the stadium. Parking is harder: there is no dedicated supporter parking, and no unreserved public car parks on event days.

How From Worth knowing
Metro St James station Directly beside the stadium
Metro Monument station About five minutes on foot, with links to Newcastle Airport, Sunderland and South Shields
Train Newcastle Central Station About a 10-minute walk, with direct services across the UK
Bus Haymarket and Eldon Square bus stations Both within easy walking distance
Park and ride MetroCentre Matchday services to the stadium area
Bike Around the stadium 35 bike stands

Travelling from outside Newcastle? Take a train to Newcastle Central Station, then walk or follow the pedestrian signs from the city centre. All kick-off times are UK time.

Driving? Several public car parks are within walking distance, but spaces can be limited on busy matchdays, so allow extra time. The MetroCentre Park and Ride avoids the city centre traffic.

After the game, a section of Barrack Road closes for up to 45 minutes, or until crowds have gone. The X50 Soccer Bus back to the MetroCentre leaves from the top of St James’ Boulevard, outside the Citygate building.

What should you know before going to St James’ Park?

Before going to St James’ Park, download your digital ticket, pack light and carry a card. Turnstiles open 90 minutes before kick-off.

  • Your ticket: every match ticket is digital, in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Hold your phone against the reader and wait for the green light.
  • Android phones: you may need to turn on NFC, the setting for tapping your phone. If your phone has no NFC, select Show Code in Google Wallet and scan the QR code.
  • A red light? A steward will help, or send you to the Box Office. On home matchdays it opens four hours before kick-off and closes at half-time.
  • Bags: nothing larger than A4, and every bag is searched.
  • Food and drink: you cannot bring your own. Alcohol is sold at kiosks but cannot be taken into, or drunk in, the seating bowl, the area where the seats are.
  • Paying: the stadium is cashless, so kiosks take card and contactless only. Food and drink cost 25% less for the first 30 minutes after the turnstiles open.
  • Meeting friends: Shearer’s Bar is next to the ground, and STACK is directly opposite. Both get busy, so arrive early.
