What is a Newcastle United season ticket?

A Newcastle United season ticket is one payment for your own seat at all 19 men’s Premier League home games in a season. The Premier League is England’s top division. Newcastle play at St James’ Park, a stadium in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. It holds 52,719 people, the club said in August 2026.

A seat only comes free when a holder chooses not to renew. That is why the club opened a waiting list in 2026.

The other way in is a Mags membership, a yearly plan that lets you try for tickets one game at a time. It does not come with a seat.

Question Season ticket Mags membership

How much is a Newcastle season ticket?

A Newcastle season ticket costs an adult £987 in Seating Category 1, £801 in Category 2 and £730 in Category 3 for 2026/27, according to the club’s price list. A seating category is a price band for one part of the ground. Newcastle United season ticket prices depend on that area and on your age.

Area Adult Student or senior citizen Aged 18 to 21 Under 18
Seating Category 1 £987 £811 £987 £343
Seating Category 2 £801 £652 £382 £228
Seating Category 3 £730 £583 £348 £183
Family Area £507 £414 £507 £90
Level 7, rows X and Y £380 £364 £380 £85

Category 1 covers Level 1 of the Milburn Stand, the main stand, and the centre of the East Stand. Level 1 is the lowest level, close to the pitch. Category 3 is a handful of sections at the Leazes end, behind the north goal. Most of the rest is Category 2.

The Family Area, a section for adults with children, is on Level 7 of the Milburn Stand. Level 7 is the top level, and rows X and Y are its back two rows. Ages 18 to 21 pay less than adults only in Categories 2 and 3. The St James’ Park seating plan guide shows where each section is.

What do premium seats at St James’ Park cost?

Premium season tickets at St James’ Park have their own prices. Bar 1892 and the Platinum Club are premium seats in the Milburn Stand, sold as bar memberships. Row A also has its own price.

Premium area Adult Student or senior citizen Aged 18 to 21 Under 18
Platinum Club £1,404 £1,135 £1,404 £584
Bar 1892 £1,245 £1,005 £1,245 £516
Row A £900 £725 £900 £373

Standard seats cost 5% more than in 2025/26, and the two bar memberships cost 15% more. You can spread the cost with a 12-month, interest-free Direct Debit, a regular payment from your bank account. The club says the change adds no more than £3.92 a month for standard seats and £15.26 for the bars.

The club also says its standard adult season ticket is the second-lowest in the Premier League.

How does the Newcastle United season ticket waiting list work?

The Newcastle United season ticket waiting list is a free queue for members, and it is the only way to get a new season ticket. When a holder does not renew, their seat goes to the next person on the list.

The club launched the list in 2026, after a proposal from its Fan Advisory Board, a group of supporters who give the club their views. The first round ran like this:

Date in 2026 What happened
Monday 18 May to Sunday 31 May Members of The Mags, Mags+ and Junior Mags signed up free. Each went into a priority group based on their memberships in 2024/25 and 2025/26
Monday 1 June to Sunday 7 June A ballot inside each group set the order
Monday 8 June Fans were told their position on the list
Wednesday 10 June The first new season tickets were offered
From Wednesday 17 June Sign-ups opened again for other members

A priority group is a band on the list. If you join today, you go into Priority Group 7, the final group for now, behind fans placed by their past memberships. You can see your position in your ticketing account.

How many people are on the Newcastle season ticket waiting list?

Almost 50,000 fans had joined the Newcastle season ticket waiting list by 8 June 2026, according to the club. For 2026/27, the club set aside at least 250 season tickets for the list.

The club publishes no waiting time and no count of the seats that come free each year, so nobody can tell you how long you will wait. Treat the list as a long-term plan, and keep buying single games in the meantime.

How do you get a Newcastle United season ticket?

You get a Newcastle United season ticket by buying a Mags membership, joining the waiting list and keeping your place until a seat is offered. Follow these steps in order:

  1. Buy a membership at book.newcastleunited.com, the club’s ticket website. The Mags is £39, Mags+ is £49 and Junior Mags, for ages 0 to 17, is £20.
  2. Join the waiting list in your account on the same site. It is free.
  3. Check your position in your ticketing account.
  4. Renew your membership every season. If it lapses, the club removes your place, with no exceptions.
  5. Go to games in the meantime. Enter the members’ ballot for each game you can attend. The Newcastle membership guide explains how it works.
  6. Buy when you are offered a seat. The next real chance comes when holders renew for 2027/28, and those dates are not published yet.

Your membership can renew by itself each year. You can change that setting until the end of May, when it locks in. The renewal deadline in 2026 was 31 May.

Can a child join the Newcastle waiting list?

Yes, but under-14s must sit with an adult. You can apply for an under-14 separately, but the club will not offer them a ticket without an adult next to them. If you already hold a season ticket and your under-14 is offered one, you will have to move to sit with them.

Can disabled fans join the Newcastle waiting list?

Yes. Newcastle says it will work with you to find suitable seats. If you need a personal assistant, someone who helps you at the match, include them in your application. Questions go to supporter.services@nufc.co.uk.

What do you get with a Newcastle season ticket?

A Newcastle season ticket gives you the same seat for every men’s home league game, with no ballot to enter and no Member Sale to queue for. It is a digital ticket, a pass held on your phone. The club emails holders in July with the steps to download it.

  • Cup games: these are extra. Holders enrol in a separate Cup Scheme for home cup games.
  • Away games: these are sold game by game. For Ipswich v Newcastle on Saturday 12 December at 3pm, holders who are members can buy from 10am on Tuesday 10 November. Other holders can buy from 3pm that day, and adults pay from £28.
  • Travel: holders can buy the Magpie Mover, a matchday travel ticket for selected bus, Metro, ferry and rail services across Tyne and Wear.
  • Mags+: holders can add this higher membership for £10.
  • Seat moves: at renewal, the club only accepts these for medical reasons. It promised a general seat-move window after the 2025/26 season.

What if a Newcastle season ticket holder cannot go to a game?

A Newcastle season ticket holder who cannot go can forward the ticket to someone they know, or list it for resale through the club. Forwarding means sending the ticket to another person.

Your choice How it works Best when
Forward it Send the game to someone in the linked friends and family list on your ticketing account. Your terms set how many transfers you get each season You know who will use the seat
List it for resale Offer the game on the Mags Member Ticket Exchange, the club’s own resale service for members. If it sells, you get the pro-rata price, which means that game’s share of your season ticket price You have nobody to send it to

Both open at a set time for each game, after ballot winners have picked their seats. For Newcastle v Manchester United on Wednesday 2 December at 8.15pm, that time is 4pm on Friday 6 November. Members can buy released seats until three hours before kick-off.

Is a Newcastle season ticket worth it, and who should join the list?

A Newcastle season ticket is worth chasing if you can get to St James’ Park for most home games. Joining the list costs nothing on top of your membership, so it suits anyone who already holds one.

  • Best for: fans on Tyneside, the area around Newcastle, who want the same seat every time.
  • Not worth it if: you want a few games a season. The Mags and the members’ ballot suit you better.
  • Bringing children? Under-18s pay from £85. In the Family Area, an adult pays £507 and an under-18 pays £90. Adults need a child with them to use that area, and the club says families are welcome across the stadium.
  • Disabled fans? The discount is 25% in 2026/27, down from 50%, and the free personal assistant ticket stays for those who are eligible. The club has added matchday support for arriving, finding your way and leaving. Lifts serve the Milburn, Gallowgate and Leazes Stands.
  • Living far away or abroad? A membership is the better fit. Every game you miss needs a linked friend or a sale through the club, and that is hard to manage from a distance.
  • Want one big day out? Matchday hospitality, a seat with food and drink, is sold separately by the club and sits outside the ballot.

What mistakes should you avoid with a Newcastle season ticket?

The Newcastle season ticket mistakes that cost you most are assuming a membership puts you on the list, and letting that membership run out.

  • Not signing up to the list. A membership alone does not add you. You must register for the waiting list as well.
  • Letting your membership lapse. You lose your place. Check your renewal before the end of May.
  • Waiting for a general sale. A general sale is one open to everyone, and Newcastle never holds one for men’s home games.
  • Leaving your ticket in an email. Download it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, on the phone you will carry, before you travel.

What is matchday like at St James’ Park?

Matchday at St James’ Park starts at the turnstile, the entry gate, which opens 90 minutes before kick-off. You open your digital ticket, hold your phone against the reader and wait for the green light. All kick-off times are UK time.

  • By Metro: St James Metro station sits directly beside the stadium. Monument station is about five minutes away on foot.
  • Travelling from elsewhere in the UK? Newcastle Central Station is about a 10-minute walk from the ground.
  • Driving? There is no dedicated supporter parking. The MetroCentre Park and Ride runs matchday services to the stadium area.
  • Bags: nothing bigger than A4, and every bag is searched.
  • Food and money: you cannot bring your own food or drink, and the ground is cashless, so carry a card or phone. Food and drink cost 25% less for the first 30 minutes after the turnstiles open.

Every date at the ground is on the St James’ Park tickets page.

How do I get a season ticket for Newcastle United?

Buy a Mags membership at book.newcastleunited.com, then register for the Season Ticket Waiting List in your account. Keep your membership active every season. How many season ticket holders does Newcastle have?

Newcastle United's 2026/27 ticket news gives no total for season ticket holders. It does say that St James' Park now holds 52,719 people, and that almost 50,000 fans joined the waiting list. Treat any figure you see elsewhere as an estimate unless the club has published it.

What are the options for season tickets at Newcastle United?

Newcastle United sells standard season tickets in three seating categories, the Family Area and the back two rows of Level 7. Premium options are Row A, Bar 1892 and the Platinum Club. Seasonal hospitality is arranged directly with the club. New season tickets come through the waiting list.

How much does it cost to go to a Newcastle game?

Through the club you pay twice. First comes a membership for the season, from £39 for The Mags. Then you pay the member price of your seat, which depends on its category and area. Season ticket holders make one payment for the year instead, from £380 for an adult.

How to get Newcastle tickets without membership?

For men's home league games, the club only sells to members of The Mags, Mags+ and Junior Mags. The exceptions are matchday hospitality packages, sold separately, and a ticket forwarded by a season ticket holder who has linked you as a friend or relative. Resale listings are priced by their sellers.

Where is the best place to find Newcastle United hospitality packages?

The best place is the club itself. Newcastle United's website has a matchday hospitality section, and its packages for 2026/27 are on sale at book.newcastleunited.com. They sit outside the members' ballot. Seasonal hospitality, which covers a whole season, is handled directly with clients, and the club sends them its pricing and options.

Does a Newcastle season ticket include cup games?

No. A Newcastle season ticket covers men's home league games. Holders enrol in a separate Cup Scheme for home cup games. Away games are also sold separately, game by game, with their own sale windows for members and season ticket holders. Check each game's sale dates on the club's website.
