- All three types enter the same random ballot, so Mags+ gives no better chance of a ticket. It adds retail, event and travel extras.
- The ballot stays open for 24 hours. Winners then have 48 hours to pick a seat and pay, or the win lapses.
- The Manchester United ballot opened at midday on Monday 2 November, for 24 hours. Next is Sunderland, from midday on Monday 9 November.
Newcastle United membership costs £39 for The Mags, £49 for Mags+ and £20 for Junior Mags in 2026/27. You need one to buy any men’s home ticket at St James’ Park, because there is no sale open to everyone. All three types enter the same ballot, a random prize draw, so paying more gives you no better chance.
Every home game and its sale stage is on the Newcastle tickets page.
What is Newcastle United membership?
Newcastle United membership is the football club’s paid yearly plan, known as The Mags, and it gives you the right to try for men’s home tickets. Newcastle United plays in the Premier League at St James’ Park, in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. The ground holds 52,719 people, according to the Premier League Handbook for 2026/27.
Season ticket holders pay once for a seat at every home league game. Every other ticket goes to members, one per membership. Members have three ways in: the Mags Member Ballot, the Mags Member Sale and the Mags Member Ticket Exchange.
Membership does not promise you a ticket. The club’s terms say it does not entitle you to buy one for any game.
How much does a Newcastle United membership cost?
A Newcastle United membership costs £39 for The Mags, £49 for Mags+ and £20 for Junior Mags in 2026/27, according to the club. A match ticket is never included. Season ticket holders can add Mags+ for £10.
| Type | Price a season | Ticket access | What else you get | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Mags | £39 | Ballot, Member Sale, Ticket Exchange and the season ticket waiting list | At least three retail discounts, competitions, and discounts on stadium tours and at Shearer’s Bar | Fans who only want tickets |
| Mags+ | £49 | Exactly the same | At least five retail discounts, first access to some ranges, in-person events, two streamed pre-season friendlies and a priority window for St James’ Park events | Regulars who will use the extras |
| Junior Mags | £20 | Ballot and Member Sale | At least three retail discounts, matchday mascot chances and a free stadium tour with a paying adult | Anyone aged 0 to 17 who wants a ticket |
Is Mags+ worth the extra money?
Mags+ is only worth it if you will use the extras, because it gives you no better chance of a ticket. Newcastle says ticket access is equal across all membership types. If tickets are all you want, buy The Mags.
Mags+ members can also buy a Magpie Mover, a matchday travel ticket for bus, Metro, ferry and some rail services across Tyne and Wear. It suits regulars who travel in from around the region. You can upgrade from The Mags during the season, and you only pay the difference at the checkout.
Can you get Newcastle tickets without being a member?
You cannot buy a normal men’s home ticket at Newcastle without a membership, because the club sells them only to The Mags, Mags+ and Junior Mags members. Without one, these are your routes:
- Matchday hospitality: a ticket with food and drink, sold separately by the club and outside the ballot. Options include Directors Box seating and private lounges.
- A forwarded ticket: a season ticket holder can send you their seat through their linked friends and family list.
- Newcastle United Women: tickets for all home games are on sale now, with early bird prices from £9 for adults, £7 for young persons and £3 for juniors.
How does the Newcastle United ballot work?
The Newcastle United ballot is a free prize draw: you enter online, and if your name comes up you can buy a ticket. It stays open for 24 hours, from Monday at midday to Tuesday at midday. Each Supporter ID, your personal number at the club, can be entered once.
The club publishes the dates for each game once broadcasters have fixed the kick-off. Newcastle v Manchester United shows every stage, and this is a real timeline for one match:
| When | Stage | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Monday 2 November, midday | Ballot opens | Enter online and choose Family Stand, Rest of Stadium or Accessible |
| Tuesday 3 November, midday | Ballot closes | No late entries |
| Wednesday 4 November, before 11am | Results | Winning lead bookers, the person who applied for the group, hear by email |
| Wednesday 4 November, midday, to Friday 6 November, midday | Seat selection | Winners pick seats in their chosen area and pay within 48 hours |
| Friday 6 November, 4pm | Forwarding and resale | Season ticket holders can pass on or resell seats |
| Monday 9 November, 10am | Mags Member Sale | Online sale for members with no ticket for that game |
| After the game sells out | Ticket Exchange | Returned seats, first come, first served, until three hours before kick-off |
How does the Mags Member Sale queue work?
The Mags Member Sale uses an online queue with random places. When the sale goes live, places are given out at random, so logging on hours early does not help. Once you reach the front, you have ten minutes to enter the site, or you go to the back.
What is the Mags Member Ticket Exchange?
The Mags Member Ticket Exchange is the club’s own resale service, where members can buy seats that season ticket holders cannot use. It opens once a game is sold out, and seats can appear until three hours before kick-off.
How do you apply as a group?
You can apply in a group of up to six members, as long as they are linked in your friends and family list. Everyone needs a paid-up membership, and they must be linked to your account before the ballot opens. One membership equals one ticket.
How many games can you really see with a Newcastle United membership?
Newcastle United publishes no ballot odds, so nobody outside the club can tell you how many games you will see. You can enter the ballot for every home game, but each entry is a draw. The one guide to demand is the season ticket waiting list, which almost 50,000 fans joined this summer.
Do these things to give yourself the best chance:
- Enter every ballot you would really attend. The draw is random and equal, so persistence is the only thing that helps.
- Only group with people who are ready. Check everyone’s membership before the ballot opens.
- Check the Ticket Exchange late. Seats keep appearing until three hours before kick-off.
- Do it all online. The box office does not take ballot entries or Member Sale orders.
How much are tickets on top of a Newcastle United membership?
Newcastle United’s membership, ticket and on-sale pages list no single-game prices, so you see the price when you pick your seat. The on-sale pages show dates only. The season ticket price list gives an idea of how the ground is priced.
- Adult season ticket: £730, £801 or £987, by seating category.
- Family Area: £507 for an adult.
- Back of Level 7, rows X and Y: £380 for an adult.
These are prices for a whole season, not for one game. The Newcastle season ticket guide explains them, and the St James’ Park seating plan shows where each area is.
How do you join Newcastle United membership?
You join Newcastle United membership online at book.newcastleunited.com, the club’s ticket site. This is also where you log in to your membership later. Do these steps in order:
- Create an account or log in on the ticket site.
- Pick your type: The Mags, Mags+ or Junior Mags. Each person can hold one membership.
- Pay. You get a Supporter ID, which is what goes into each ballot.
- Link your group. Add friends and family to your account before the next ballot opens.
- Join the waiting list, if you want a season ticket. It is a separate step, and new sign-ups go into Priority Group 7, the last group for now.
- Check the on-sale dates page for each game you want.
When do Newcastle United memberships go on sale?
Newcastle United memberships for 2026/27 are on sale now, and the club’s terms say fees can be paid at any time during a season. The terms also say memberships renew automatically each year, on or around 1 June. You can change that setting until the end of May.
Can you cancel a Newcastle United membership?
You can cancel within 14 days of buying, by email, by phone or in person. The club can take off the cost of any benefits you have used, and it can cancel and refund any tickets you bought. After that, there is no refund.
Is Newcastle United membership worth it?
Newcastle United membership is worth it for anyone who wants to go to a men’s home game, because it is the only standard route. Buy The Mags unless the Mags+ extras suit you.
- Best for: local fans who can go at short notice, because the Ticket Exchange keeps releasing seats.
- Not worth it if: you want one fixed date. A ballot may not come through, so hospitality is the route that skips it.
- Bringing children? Every child needs their own Junior Mags at £20. Apply together as one group, and pick Family Stand, which is on Level 7 of the Milburn Stand.
- Disabled fans? Members registered as needing accessible seats enter the Accessible ballot, for themselves and a personal assistant if eligible. For help, call the box office on 0191 201 8457.
- Travelling from far away? Wait for the result before you book trains or hotels. Remember that you must pay within 48 hours.
- Living abroad? The club says international members can use the ballot and Member Sale.
What mistakes should you avoid with Newcastle United membership?
The most common Newcastle United membership mistakes are buying Mags+ for ticket priority, missing the 48-hour window and letting a membership lapse.
- Buying Mags+ for better odds. Every type has the same chance.
- Missing the seat deadline. The win lapses, with no flexibility. You can still try the Member Sale, but with no promise of a ticket.
- Forgetting a child’s membership. Each ticket needs its own membership.
- Letting your membership lapse. You lose your place on the season ticket waiting list, with no exceptions.
- Thinking membership adds you to the waiting list. You must register as well.
What is matchday like at St James’ Park for a member?
Matchday at St James’ Park is simple, because the ground is in the city centre, close to the Metro and the main railway station. The address is St James’ Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4ST, and all kick-off times are UK time.
- Metro: St James station is right beside the stadium, and Monument station is about five minutes away on foot.
- Travelling from elsewhere in the UK? Newcastle Central Station is about a 10-minute walk from the ground.
- Driving? There is no dedicated supporter parking. The MetroCentre Park and Ride is the easy option.
- Your ticket: a digital pass, a ticket held on your phone in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
- Gates: turnstiles, the entry gates, open 90 minutes before kick-off.
- Bags: nothing larger than A4, and every bag is searched.
- Paying: the ground is cashless, so bring a card or phone.
Every date at the ground is on the St James’ Park tickets page.

Not normal tickets for men's home league games. Newcastle United sells those only to The Mags, Mags+ and Junior Mags members, one per membership. How to get a Newcastle membership?
Buy it online at book.newcastleunited.com, the club's ticket site, and pick The Mags, Mags+ or Junior Mags. You receive a Supporter ID, which is what goes into each ballot. The 2026/27 price list gives adults £987 in Seating Category 1, £801 in Category 2 and £730 in Category 3, with the Family Area at £507 and Level 7 rows X and Y at £380. New season tickets come only through the waiting list, which needs an active membership.
Do Mags+ members have a better chance of getting tickets?
No. Newcastle United says ticket access is equal across all membership types, so Mags+, The Mags and Junior Mags applications enter the same random process in the ballot and the Member Sale. Mags+ adds retail, event and travel extras, such as the option to buy a Magpie Mover, but no match priority.
When do Newcastle United memberships go on sale?
Newcastle United memberships for 2026/27 are on sale now, and you can join at any time during the season. The club's terms say memberships renew automatically each year, on or around 1 June. To enter a ballot, join before it opens. The next one, for Sunderland, opens at midday on Monday 9 November.

How do I log in to my Newcastle United membership?
Log in at book.newcastleunited.com, the club's ticket site, using the account you created when you joined. The Mags Member Ticket Exchange is Newcastle United's own resale service for members. Once a game is sold out, season ticket holders can release seats they cannot use, and members can buy them, first come, first served. Seats can appear until three hours before kick-off, so it helps to check late.
How many memberships do Newcastle United have?
Newcastle United's membership pages give no total number of members. The nearest published figure is the season ticket waiting list, which almost 50,000 fans joined after its launch this summer. Treat any membership total you see elsewhere as an estimate unless the club has published it.
