What is a Manchester United season ticket?
A Manchester United season ticket is one payment for your own seat at all 19 Premier League home games in a season. Manchester United plays in the Premier League, England’s top division. Its home is Old Trafford, a stadium in Greater Manchester that holds 74,158 people, according to the Premier League Handbook for 2026/27.
Holders renew each year, so a seat only comes free when someone gives it up.
General admission means a normal seat, with no food or lounge included. A membership is a yearly plan that lets you buy tickets for single games, but it does not come with a seat.
| Question | Season ticket | Official Membership |
|---|---|---|
| What you pay first | From £646 for an adult | £37.50 a season |
| Your seat | The same seat at all 19 league games | You pick a seat for each game you buy |
| Price of one adult game | From £34 | From £33, £44, £55 or £62, set by the opponent |
| Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal at home | Part of your 19 games | A members’ ballot, which is a free prize draw for the right to buy |
| Can you get one today? | No sale date published | Yes, online |
The club also sells a Women’s team season ticket and Seasonal Hospitality, which adds food and drink. Those are separate products, and manutd.com/seasontickets covers all three.
How much is a Manchester United season ticket?
A Manchester United season ticket costs from £646 for an adult in general admission in 2026/27, according to the club’s ticketing update. Concessions, which are lower prices for certain ages, start at £12 a match.
| Who | Lowest 2026/27 price | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Adult, general admission | £646 for the season, or £34 a match | The lowest adult price at Old Trafford |
| Under 16 | £12 a match | In the family area |
| Aged 16 or 17 | £17 a match | Normal seats |
| Aged 18 to 20 | £25.50 a match | Normal seats |
| Over 66 | £25.50 a match | Senior holders also keep a 25% discount, taken off when they pay |
These are starting prices. Other parts of Old Trafford cost more, and the club’s update does not list a price for each stand. Each holder gets personal renewal details directly from the club.
Manchester United says 2026/27 prices are around 5 per cent higher across all areas of the ground. That is just over £2 a game on average for adult holders and £1 a game for under-16s.
Is it good value? At £34 a match, the lowest adult season ticket sits just above the £33 starting price of Category D, the lowest price band for a single game. It is well below the £62 start of Category A, the band for the biggest visitors. The guide to Manchester United ticket prices sorts every game into its band.
How do Manchester United season ticket prices compare with other clubs?
Manchester United’s lowest adult season ticket is below Liverpool’s and Arsenal’s in 2026/27, going by each club’s published prices. Each lowest price buys a different kind of seat, so compare the stand as well as the number.
| Club | Lowest adult season ticket, 19 league games |
|---|---|
| Manchester United | £646 |
| Liverpool | £734.50 |
| Arsenal | £978, on the 19-game version of its Arsenal season ticket |
Does a Manchester United season ticket include the Champions League?
A Manchester United season ticket covers the 19 Premier League home games only, so the Champions League and domestic cups cost extra. The club publishes no separate price for a cup season ticket.
Holders can opt in or out of each competition. Manchester United says they will not pay more than 1/19th of their season ticket price for any home game in a European or domestic cup. So a holder on £34 a match pays no more than £34 for that game.
Holders who opted out of the Champions League could still buy. They joined members in the sale that opened at 6pm on 29 August 2026, for home games such as RB Leipzig on Tuesday 8 December at 8pm.
What do you get with a Manchester United season ticket?
A Manchester United season ticket gives you the same seat at every league home game, with no ballot to enter. That matters most for Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, because members must win a draw to see those games.
- Every category covered. The biggest visitors are part of your 19 games.
- One ticket per game. Each fixture appears as its own ticket in the Manchester United app.
- A way to pass on games. You can forward, resell or donate any game you cannot attend.
Is there a Manchester United season ticket waiting list?
Manchester United has no public season ticket waiting list that you can join or check. As of 31 October 2026, the club’s membership and ticketing help pages show no sign-up form, no list length and no waiting time.
The Club Charter, the club’s published promises to fans, does mention a list. It says the club adds would-be holders to a waiting list “where applicable”, with priority for Official Members who have paid a deposit. The 2026/27 membership page is clearer: Premium members get “first priority for new season ticket sales”.
You may see huge list sizes and waits of many years quoted online. Those figures do not come from the club, so treat them as guesses. The club does say that Old Trafford has very few empty seats, and that the vast majority of holders are on course to meet the usage rule. So do not expect many seats to come free.
Manchester United has also promised to publish ticketing data on its website again, so firmer numbers may follow.
How do you get a Manchester United season ticket?
You get a Manchester United season ticket by holding the right membership when new ones go on sale, because Premium members are first in line. Follow these steps:
- Create an account on tickets.manutd.com. The same login works in the Manchester United app.
- Buy Premium Membership at £70 a season. Official, at £37.50, lets you buy single games but has no first priority.
- Sign up to Ticket Alerts, the club’s notices about new sales.
- Go to games meanwhile. Members buy one ticket per game. Manchester United v Coventry on Saturday 5 December at 3pm is from £44 for an adult.
- Renew Premium each season. Benefits start on 1 July.
- Check manutd.com/seasontickets for news of any new sale.
Already on Official? To upgrade, you cancel and buy again. Cancelling means phoning +44 161 676 7770, and any tickets on the old membership are cancelled too. If you think you will want Premium, buy it first. The Manchester United membership guide compares all four types.
How do season ticket renewals work?
Renewals are only for people who already hold a season ticket. The club contacts each holder directly with their personal renewal information for the next season.
What is the 16-of-19 rule for Manchester United season tickets?
The 16-of-19 rule means Manchester United season ticket holders must use their seat for at least 16 of the 19 Premier League home games. Going yourself counts. So does forwarding the ticket, listing it for resale or donating its cost through the club. The update does not say what happens if a holder falls short.
The club kept the rule for 2026/27 after talks with its Fans’ Advisory Board, a group of fan representatives. It accepts that TV often moves game dates, which makes planning hard. If you cannot go, you have three choices:
| Your choice | How it works | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Forward it | Send the ticket to a member in the app or on the ticketing website. Someone on the £30 Forwarding membership can receive it | Until kick-off |
| List it for resale | Put the seat up for sale in the app. The club sells returned seats to members only | Holders should list at least two weeks before the game, because a charge applies after that |
| Donate the cost | Give the value of your seat to the Manchester United Foundation, which helps young people locally. It has raised £2million this way | The day before the game |
Who should get a Manchester United season ticket, and who should not?
A Manchester United season ticket suits fans who can get to Old Trafford for most league games, or who have members nearby to take the games they miss. For everyone else, a membership is the better buy.
- Best for: fans who live near Manchester and want the same seat every time.
- Not worth chasing if: you want one or two games a season. Official Membership and a lower-category game will do.
- Bringing children? The lowest concession is in the family area, and the club’s Family Stand is kept for the families of season ticket holders. If your child has no smartphone, link their account to yours and their ticket appears on your phone.
- Disabled fans? The Club Charter promises dedicated areas for disabled supporters and free tickets for carers or personal assistants. Start by emailing accessibility@manutd.co.uk.
- Living far away or abroad? Sixteen games is a lot to cover, so you would need people to forward to. An official supporters’ club, a local fan group recognised by the club, may suit you better. These groups share 1,000 tickets per home game.
What mistakes should you avoid with a Manchester United season ticket?
The biggest Manchester United season ticket mistakes are buying the wrong membership, listing a seat too late and setting up the wrong phone.
- Buying Forwarding to join the queue. Forwarding members cannot buy or apply for tickets, and it brings no other benefits.
- Listing a seat late. The club only charges for a resale listing made within two weeks of the game.
- Using the wrong phone. The app can lock your tickets to one device, so set it up on the phone you will carry to Old Trafford.
- Leaving the ticket in the app. Add each game to your Apple or Google wallet before matchday. Screenshots do not work at the turnstile.
What is matchday like at Old Trafford for a season ticket holder?
Matchday at Old Trafford is simple for a season ticket holder: you tap your phone at the turnstile, the entry gate, and walk to your own seat. The ground is on Sir Matt Busby Way, postcode M16 0RA, and all kick-off times are UK time.
- By tram: the Old Trafford Metrolink stop is within a five-minute walk.
- Travelling from elsewhere in the UK? Take a train to Manchester Piccadilly, then a taxi of about 15 minutes.
- Driving? Book an official car park online before you travel.
- Bags: nothing over 20cm x 15cm x 5cm goes into the stadium. A bag drop costs £5.
The Old Trafford seating plan guide explains each stand, and every game at the ground is on the Old Trafford tickets page.
What to do now (as of 31 October 2026)
As of 31 October 2026, Manchester United’s news and help pages give no date for a new season ticket sale. Do this first: buy a membership, Premium if a season ticket is your aim, then use the sales below.
| Date | What is open | Adults from |
|---|---|---|
| 8am, Wednesday 11 November 2026 | Ballot closes for Liverpool at home, scheduled for Saturday 23 January 2027 | £62 |
| 8am, Tuesday 17 November 2026 | Ballot closes for Chelsea at home, scheduled for Saturday 6 February 2027 | £62 |
| 8am, Tuesday 24 November 2026 | Ballot closes for Arsenal at home, scheduled for Saturday 27 February 2027 | £62 |
| Saturday 28 November 2026, 3pm | Brentford, members’ sale open | £55 |
| Wednesday 30 December 2026, 7.30pm | Sunderland, members’ sale open | £55 |
Those three dates and kick-offs are still to be confirmed. The how to get Manchester United tickets guide ranks every other route. If none of the club’s routes works for your game, resale listings with live prices sit beside each fixture on the Manchester United tickets page.
