How to get Manchester United tickets, in short: buy a club membership first. Official Membership costs £37.50 a season, and Premier League seats at Old Trafford are sold only to members on tickets.manutd.com. Members buy direct for most games and enter a ballot, a free prize draw, for Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

The full fixture list, with each game’s sale status, is on the Manchester United tickets page.

How do Manchester United tickets work?

Manchester United tickets work differently from concert tickets, because league games have no general sale, meaning no sale open to everyone. Manchester United is a Premier League football club, and its home is Old Trafford, a 74,158-capacity stadium in Greater Manchester. The club sells home tickets only through tickets.manutd.com and two official travel partners.

Five terms explain almost everything:

  • Membership: a paid plan for the season that gives you the right to buy tickets. Premium, Official and Under 16 can buy, but Forwarding cannot.
  • Ballot: a free prize draw. You enter, and if your name comes up you can buy a ticket.
  • Category: the price band for a game, set by the opponent. A is the dearest and D the lowest.
  • Season ticket: one payment for your own seat at all 19 Premier League home games.
  • Returned seat: a ticket a holder cannot use and lists for resale in the club’s app. It then goes back on sale to members.

What is the best way to get Manchester United tickets?

The best way to get Manchester United tickets is the members’ direct sale, where you pick a seat online and pay straight away. As of 31 October 2026 it is open for most league games. This table ranks every route by your real chance:

Rank Route Who can use it Your real chance
1 Members’ direct sale: buy online and choose your seat Premium, Official and Under 16 members Good for Category B and C games
2 Hospitality: a ticket with food and drink, sold by the club Anyone. Members get 15% off selected packages Available, at hospitality prices
3 Travel package: a ticket with a hotel or travel, from Champions Travel or Travel Connection Anyone Available, at package prices
4 Returned seats Premium, Official and Under 16 members A second chance at sold-out games
5 Members’ ballot for Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal Premium, Official and Under 16 members A draw, so nothing is certain
6 Official supporters’ club: a local fan group recognised by the club Branch members A share of 1,000 tickets per home game
7 Forwarded ticket: a season ticket holder sends you their ticket for one game Any member, including Forwarding at £30 Depends on who you know
8 Season ticket Premium members get first priority A long-term aim, with no public waiting list

How hard is it to get Manchester United tickets? It depends on the game. Category B and C games are realistic for a new member, while Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal come down to a draw.

If you only want one game a season, buy Official and pick a Category B or C game.

How do returned seats work?

Returned seats are tickets that season ticket holders and members cannot use. They list them for resale in the Manchester United app, generally until two weeks before the match. The club then sells them to members only, on tickets.manutd.com.

How to get Manchester United tickets for the first time

To get Manchester United tickets for the first time, join as a member, then buy online for a lower-category game. Do these steps in order:

  1. Join. Register on tickets.manutd.com and buy a membership. Official at £37.50 is enough to buy tickets.
  2. Sign up to Ticket Alerts, so you hear when each sale and ballot opens.
  3. Choose a lower-category game. Manchester United v Coventry on Saturday 5 December 2026 is Category C, from £44 for an adult.
  4. Buy online. Log in with your membership number to hand, then pick your seat from the stadium plan. It is one ticket per member.
  5. Enter the ballots for Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal if you want those games.
  6. Check for returned seats in the weeks before a sold-out game.
  7. Put the ticket on your phone. Tickets are NFC passes, digital tickets you tap to get in, held in the Manchester United app. Add yours to Apple or Google Wallet, then tap your phone on the turnstile, the entry gate.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Waiting for a general sale. League games never have one, so buy a membership instead.
  • Buying Forwarding to get tickets. Forwarding members cannot buy or apply. They can only receive a ticket from a season ticket holder.
  • Buying for friends on one membership. Each person needs their own membership, because it is one ticket per member.
  • Upgrading late. To upgrade you cancel and buy again, and any tickets you hold are cancelled too. If you want Premium, buy it first.
  • Relying on a screenshot. Screenshots are not valid at the turnstile.

Can you buy Manchester United tickets without a membership?

You cannot buy a normal Manchester United league ticket without a membership, because Premier League seats are sold only to members. Without one, your routes are hospitality and travel packages. For £30, a Forwarding membership also lets a season ticket holder send you their ticket.

Membership Price a season Can it buy tickets? What else you get Best for
Premium £70 Yes First priority for new season tickets, a £20 United Store voucher and access to MUTV, the club’s video service, worth £29.99 Fans who want a season ticket one day
Official £37.50 Yes Discounted tickets for MU Women, the club’s women’s team, 15% off selected hospitality and 10% off at the United Store Most first-timers
Under 16 £20 Yes Junior competitions and the same store and hospitality discounts Children
Forwarding £30 No Forwarded tickets only Friends and family of a season ticket holder

The Manchester United membership guide compares these four in more detail.

How do Manchester United ballots work?

Manchester United ballots are free prize draws for the most wanted league games. For Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal at home, members apply on the club’s ballots page while applications are open, instead of buying first come, first served.

Home game Scheduled date Ballot closes Adults from
Manchester United v Liverpool Saturday 23 January 2027 8am, Wednesday 11 November 2026 £62, Category A
Manchester United v Chelsea Saturday 6 February 2027 8am, Tuesday 17 November 2026 £62, Category A
Manchester United v Arsenal Saturday 27 February 2027 8am, Tuesday 24 November 2026 £62, Category A

These dates and kick-offs are still to be confirmed. £62 is the starting price, and other parts of the ground cost more within Category A.

Missed out in a ballot? Look for returned seats before the game. If you must be there, hospitality and travel packages are the other routes.

How do you get a Manchester United season ticket?

You get a Manchester United season ticket when new ones go on sale, and Premium members get first priority. There is no public waiting list, so you cannot join a queue or track your place. Seats only come free when holders give them up.

Manchester United’s 2026/27 ticketing update says the lowest adult general admission season ticket is £646, which works out at £34 a match across 19 Premier League home games. The lowest concession prices are £12 a match for under-16s in the family area, £17 for 16 and 17-year-olds, and £25.50 for 18 to 20-year-olds and over-66s.

Season ticket holders must attend, forward, list for resale or donate the cost of their seat for at least 16 of the 19 Premier League matches. In return, the club says they pay no more than 1/19th of their season ticket price for any home cup or European match.

So a season ticket is best for fans who can get to almost every game. It is not worth chasing if you only want one game a season. The Manchester United season ticket guide has the full rules.

How do you get Manchester United away tickets?

You cannot get Manchester United away tickets with a standard membership, because the club says tickets for domestic away games and cup finals are not available to Official members. An away ticket is a seat in the part of another club’s ground kept for visiting fans.

The club’s ticketing update also mentions a credit system for European away games. A credit is a record of a game you have been to, and clubs use credits to decide who buys first. So away tickets are not a route for a new fan.

The next trips are Liverpool away on Sunday 22 November, Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday 25 November, Newcastle on Wednesday 2 December and Crystal Palace on Sunday 13 December. The sales on those clubs’ own websites are for their own members. Premier League clubs have agreed a £30 cap on away ticket prices.

What about Champions League and cup games?

Manchester United sells Champions League and home cup games to members too, but each sale is set after the draw. The Champions League home games went on sale on 29 August 2026, and any further tickets go to the same groups. Cup finals are different: the club says those tickets are not available to Official members.

How can a tourist or first-timer get Manchester United tickets?

A tourist can get Manchester United tickets most easily through an Official Match Break, a package from the club’s travel partners Champions Travel and Travel Connection. These packages combine a match ticket with a hotel and travel, for fans from across the UK and abroad.

  • Best for: visitors with fixed dates, or anyone making a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
  • Not worth it if: you live near Manchester and can be flexible. A membership and a Category C game will do.
  • Living far from Manchester or abroad? Look for an official supporters’ club. The club lists 362 of them in 95 countries, and they share 1,000 tickets per home game.
  • Buying from abroad? You can join as a member from overseas. The club posts membership packs abroad, and your ticket lives in the app.
  • No ticket for your dates? Members get a discount on the Old Trafford Museum and Stadium Tour.

Is Manchester United hospitality worth it?

Manchester United hospitality is worth it if you want a certain seat with food and drink on a special day. The club sells it game by game, and members get 15% off selected packages. On home matchdays, the stadium tour and museum only open to hospitality guests.

Can you bring children or a disabled fan to Old Trafford?

Children can go to Old Trafford, and each child needs an Under 16 Membership at £20 a season to get a ticket. To buy one, log in, select Under 16 and use the red “Change” pencil icon to assign it to your child.

Bringing a family or a group? Everyone needs their own ticket, so each person needs a membership. The club also has a Family Stand, but that is for the families of season ticket holders.

Disabled fans should start with the Accessibility Help Page on tickets.manutd.com, or email accessibility@manutd.co.uk. The Old Trafford tram stop is accessible for wheelchair users.

What should you know on matchday at Old Trafford?

Old Trafford is on Sir Matt Busby Way in Greater Manchester, postcode M16 0RA, and the easiest way there is the tram. The Old Trafford Metrolink stop is within a five-minute walk of the ground. All kick-off times here are UK time.

  • Travelling from outside Manchester? Take a main-line train to Manchester Piccadilly, then the tram, or a taxi of about 15 minutes. The station beside the ground has no matchday service.
  • Driving? Official car parks must be booked online before you travel.
  • Bags: the largest bag allowed is 20cm x 15cm x 5cm, which is much smaller than A4. Bag drops charge £5 and open 4 hours before kick-off. If you use one, the club says to arrive 2 hours before kick-off.
  • Security: everyone is searched or screened on entry, and smoking is banned, including e-cigarettes.
  • Away fans: away turnstiles are at the south-east corner and open 2 hours before kick-off.

To choose a seat, read the Old Trafford seating plan guide. Every date at the ground is on the Old Trafford tickets page.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Manchester United ticket per match?

Adult league tickets at Manchester United for 2026/27 start at £62 in Category A, £55 in B, £44 in C and £33 in D, depending on the opponent. You need a membership first, from £37.50. Season ticket holders pay from £34 a match, and the lowest concession is £12 for under-16s in the family area.

What is the most trustworthy site for Manchester United tickets?

For Old Trafford, the club's own ticketing site, tickets.manutd.com, is where members buy league tickets, enter ballots and pick up returned seats. The club's official travel partners, Champions Travel and Travel Connection, sell packages that include a ticket. Matchday hospitality is also sold by Manchester United itself.

How long is the Manchester United waiting list?

Manchester United has no public waiting list for season tickets, so there is no published wait to quote. The club gives Premium members, at £70 a season, first priority when new season tickets go on sale. The practical route is to hold Premium and buy match by match through members' sales and ballots.

How hard is it to get a Manchester United season ticket?

Getting a Manchester United season ticket is hard, because seats only come free when holders give them up. New season tickets go first to Premium members, and there is no list you can join. If you want one, hold Premium at £70 a season and go to games through members' sales in the meantime.

Can I buy Manchester United tickets without a membership?

Not a normal league ticket. Without a ticket-buying membership, your Manchester United routes are matchday hospitality, a travel partner package, or a ticket forwarded by a season ticket holder, which needs at least the £30 Forwarding membership. Members' sales, ballots and returned seats are limited to Premium, Official and Under 16 members.

How do Manchester United ballots work?

For the most wanted home games, Manchester United members apply on the club's ballots page while applications are open, instead of buying first come, first served. This season the Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal home games are balloted, all in Category A from £62 for an adult. Only Premium, Official and Under 16 members can apply.

How many tickets can a Manchester United member buy?

A Manchester United member can buy one ticket per game, because the club sells one ticket per member. So a family or a group of friends needs one ticket-buying membership each. Forwarding members cannot buy at all, and can only receive a ticket sent by a season ticket holder.

How do I get Manchester United away tickets?

Manchester United says tickets for domestic away games and cup finals are not available to Official members, so a standard membership will not get you one. The club's ticketing update mentions a credit system for European away games. For a first game, a home match at Old Trafford is the realistic route.

Are there any discounts on Manchester United tickets?

Manchester United members get 15% off selected matchday hospitality packages and discounted MU Women tickets. Season ticket concessions go down to £12 a match for under-16s in the family area, and over-66s get a 25% season ticket discount. For a single league game, the lowest adult starting price is £33 in Category D.

How do I get my Manchester United ticket on my phone?

Manchester United tickets are issued in the Manchester United app as NFC tickets. Add yours to Apple or Google Wallet, then tap your phone at the turnstile. There are no QR codes and screenshots are not valid, so everyone going needs a compatible smartphone and a charged battery on matchday.
