Kick-off is at 7.30pm on Wednesday 30 December 2026, at Old Trafford on Sir Matt Busby Way in Manchester. An evening fixture falls outside the Saturday 3pm blackout, so the game is eligible for live UK coverage; whether and where it is shown depends on the broadcasters' selections, which they confirm in their schedules.
It is a winter night match, so allow for the dark and the cold on the walk from the tram, and check the kick-off in the Manchester United App on the day.

Route one: the club. For Sunderland there is no ballot: the Official Members sale is open and adult tickets in Category B start at £55. Joining costs £37.50 for an adult in 2026/27, £70 for Premium, £20 for an Under-16 or £30 for Forwarding.
If the sale has nothing left in the area you want, members can watch club resale in the official Man Utd app, where season ticket holders and members list seats they cannot use. Those returns are sold to Official Members only.
Route two: resale. Without membership, this is the way in. Seats listed on Hellotickets are priced by sellers, can cost more than face value, and the final price is shown before you pay.

Where to sit at Old Trafford
Choose by what you want from the evening. If you want to be among the home support, the Stretford End behind the west goal is the home end, with a 6,000-place safe standing section in its second tier. For a side-on view, the three-tier Sir Alex Ferguson Stand runs along the north touchline; the single-tier Sir Bobby Charlton Stand opposite is where the dugouts and most executive suites are. Behind the east goal, the two-tier East Stand holds the disabled supporters' section and, in its south-east corner, the visitors.
Sunderland's fans have blocks E230 to E233 and STH229, so any "East Stand Tier 2" listing deserves a check of the block. Elsewhere, Hellotickets uses Shortside for the goal ends, Longside for the touchlines and Central for seats near halfway. Our Old Trafford seating plan has the full layout, and the Sunderland tickets page lists the club's other fixtures.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy Manchester United tickets without being a member?
Not for Premier League games. United's league tickets, and the returns resold through the club app, go only to Official Members, and no general sale is held. How can I purchase tickets for Manchester United games?
Through tickets.manutd.com or the club's official travel partners, Champions Travel and Travel Connection. League games are sold to Official Members, directly for most matches and by ballot for Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, while Champions League sales open after each draw. At the club, 2026/27 adult prices start at £33, £44, £55 or £62 depending on the category (D, C, B or A). This Sunderland match is Category B, so adult tickets start at £55 for members. On Hellotickets, resale seats for it start at £121 (checked 5 Nov 2026).
What time does Manchester United v Sunderland kick off?
Kick-off is at 7.30pm on Wednesday 30 December 2026, at Old Trafford. An evening game falls outside the Saturday 3pm blackout, so it can be shown live in the UK if the broadcasters pick it. Check the Manchester United App for the confirmed time before travelling.
