At a glance

  • Matchday Membership costs £38 a season for adults, Premium £65 and Junior £20. Each lasts 12 months and renews automatically unless you cancel.
  • City sells men's home tickets only to Official Members, while Season Ticket Members have every league game included.
  • Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Leeds go first to members who bought three or more home league games across the last two seasons.
  • Every member gets £5 off each men's Premier League home ticket. Adult tickets start at £20 for the lowest-priced games.
  • The club runs no ballot. A further release several weeks before each game gives members a second chance.

Manchester City membership is how you buy a ticket for a men’s home game in 2026/27, because the club sells them only to members. An Official Membership costs £38 a season for Matchday, £65 for Premium or £20 for Junior. It opens most games at once, but the biggest need a record of past purchases.

Check the game you want first: every home fixture and its sale status is on the Manchester City tickets page.

What is a Manchester City membership?

A Manchester City membership is a paid 12-month plan that gives you the right to buy tickets for men’s home games. The club calls it an Official Membership. City plays in the Premier League, England’s top division, at the Etihad Stadium in east Manchester. The ground holds 61,038 people, according to the Premier League Handbook for 2026/27.

A membership is not a season ticket. Season Ticket Members have every league game included, while members pay for each game they go to. City says a limited number of matches may go on general sale, a sale open to everyone, during the season.

Cityzens is different again. It is the club’s free fan account, with competitions and personalised content. On its own it does not open Premier League tickets.

How much is a Manchester City membership?

A Manchester City membership costs £38 a season for Matchday, £65 for Premium and £20 for Junior in 2026/27, according to the club’s membership pages. Matchday is for adults aged 18 or over, and its price excludes postage and packing.

Membership Price What it adds
Matchday £38 £15 online shop voucher, a free ticket for every PL2 home game, 10% off the City Store and Manchester City Women’s tickets
Premium £65 A 12-month CITY+ subscription, a £25 voucher or membership pack, 10% off selected hospitality packages and stadium tours
Junior £20 A £15 voucher or membership pack, a matchday mascot chance for ages 5 to 12 and a free junior stadium tour pass

PL2 is Premier League 2, the league for City’s young players. CITY+ is the club’s video subscription. Hospitality means a ticket with food and drink.

All three memberships give you these benefits:

  • The right to buy home tickets, subject to the rules for each game.
  • £5 off every men’s Premier League home ticket.
  • The right to receive a ticket sent by a Season Ticket Member.

For most adults, Matchday is enough. Premium makes sense if you would pay for CITY+ anyway or plan to buy hospitality.

Is there a Manchester City junior membership?

Yes, the Manchester City junior membership costs £20 for 2026/27, the same price as last season. Children get the same right to buy tickets and the same £5 off, so a Junior Membership is the way to start a young fan’s buying record.

Which games can a Manchester City member buy?

A Manchester City member can buy most home games straight away, but each match page sets its own rules, depending on the opponent. City runs no ballot, which is a free prize draw for the right to buy.

Home games Who can buy Tickets per member
Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Leeds Priority for members who bought three or more home Premier League games across 2024/25 and 2025/26 Shown on each match page
Aston Villa, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham New and existing members One
Other league games Members Up to four

The further release is your second chance. Several weeks before each game, once the date and kick-off are fixed, City releases more tickets. These include seats that Season Ticket Members have listed on the Ticket Exchange, the club’s own system for returned seats.

The membership page also warns that some games may be on restricted sale for fans who have been to the Etihad before. So read the match page before you join for one game.

How much are Manchester City tickets for members?

Manchester City tickets for adult members start at £40 in Category A, £35 in Category B, £30 in Category C and £20 in Category D. A category is the price band for a game, and a new midweek category starts at £25. For example, Hull City on Saturday 19 December is from £20, and Tottenham on Sunday 3 January is from £40.

How many games can you realistically see?

Manchester City publishes no figure, but a new member can realistically buy most games that are not limited by past purchases. As of 31 October 2026, the sales for Fulham, Hull City, Everton and Nottingham Forest are open to members, with up to four tickets each.

The biggest games are harder. A new member does not meet the criteria for Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool or Leeds, so the further release is the realistic route. Buying the easier games now builds the kind of record the club has asked for before.

Can you buy Manchester City tickets without a membership?

You usually cannot buy Manchester City tickets without a membership, because the club sells men’s home tickets only to Official Members in 2026/27. There are three exceptions:

  • General sale. A limited number of games may go on sale to everyone during the season.
  • Ticket Transfer. A Season Ticket Member can send you their seat for one game if you are on their Friends and Family list, member or not.
  • Bars and hospitality. The club sells these separately. For Champions League games, they are on sale to previous customers and Cityzens registered before 27 August 2026.

How do you join Manchester City as a member?

You join Manchester City as a member online, on the club’s memberships pages or in its official app. Do these steps in order:

  1. Read the match page for the game you want, including who can buy.
  2. Choose your membership and pay: Matchday, Premium or Junior.
  3. Buy in the members’ sale on the match page, within that game’s ticket limit.
  4. Save your ticket. An NFC ticket is a digital ticket you tap to get in. Download it to Apple or Google Wallet.
  5. Missed out? Watch for the further release several weeks before kick-off.

How do you renew or cancel a Manchester City membership?

A Manchester City membership lasts 12 months and renews automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date, according to the club’s help pages. The payment comes from the card you used to join.

To cancel within 14 days of buying, contact Fan Support through the club’s contact form. This works only if you have not used a benefit or bought tickets, and the refund goes back to your card.

After that, you can still stop the next renewal. The club’s 2025/26 terms say to call Fan Support on +44 (0)161 444 1894 by 5pm UK time on the working day before it. Check the terms for your own year, as details can change.

Is a Manchester City membership worth it?

A Manchester City membership is worth it if you want to see City at home, because it is the normal way to buy a ticket. It is also the first step towards a season ticket.

  • Best for one or two games: Matchday, with a game open to all members.
  • Best for CITY+ viewers and hospitality buyers: Premium.
  • Bringing a family or group? For games limited to one ticket each, such as Tottenham and Chelsea, every person needs their own membership. Under-14s must sit next to an adult aged 18 or over.
  • Disabled fans? Eligible disabled fans aged 14 or over can bring a personal assistant free of charge. Email access@mancity.com to arrange it.
  • Travelling from far away? Pick a game with a fixed date, because dates from January can still move for television.

A membership is not worth it if you only want the derby or Arsenal and have no buying record. The Manchester City season ticket guide explains where that record can lead.

What mistakes should you avoid with a Manchester City membership?

The main Manchester City membership mistakes are joining for one big game, mixing it up with Cityzens and forgetting that it renews.

  • Joining for the derby. Without past purchases, you can only wait for the further release.
  • Thinking Cityzens is enough. The free account does not open Premier League sales.
  • Buying one membership for a group. A game limited to one ticket each needs one membership each.
  • Forgetting the renewal. Note the date, and cancel in time if you are done.
  • Relying on a screenshot. Screenshots do not work at the turnstiles, the entry gates.

What happens on matchday with a Manchester City membership?

On matchday, a Manchester City member gets into the Etihad Stadium by tapping the ticket saved on their phone. General admission gates, for normal seats, open two hours before kick-off. All kick-off times are UK time.

  • Tram: Etihad Campus is the stop for the ground, 8-10 minutes from Manchester Piccadilly on the Metrolink.
  • On foot: the stadium is about 35 minutes from the city centre on a signposted route.
  • Car: parking must be booked before you travel.
  • Bags: small handheld bags only, no larger than A4.
  • Paying: the stadium is cashless, so bring a card or phone.

To choose a seat, use the Etihad Stadium seating plan guide. Other events at the ground are on the Etihad Stadium tickets page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Man City membership cost?

For 2026/27, the Matchday Membership is £38 a season for adults, the Premium Membership £65 and the Junior Membership £20. Each takes £5 off every men's Premier League home ticket. Matchday adds a £15 shop voucher and free PL2 tickets, Premium adds a year of CITY+, and Junior adds a voucher or membership pack.

Do I need a membership to buy Man City tickets?

Yes, for most men's home games in 2026/27. The club sells match tickets only to Official Members, and Season Ticket Members have their league games included. City says a limited number of matches may go on general sale. Without a membership, you can still receive a ticket transferred by a Season Ticket Member.

How do I get a Man City membership?

Join online on the club's memberships pages or in the official app, choosing Matchday for adults, Premium or Junior. Before paying, read the match page for the game you want, because the biggest fixtures go first to members with a record of buying home league tickets in the previous two seasons.

Is there a Manchester City junior membership?

Yes, at £20 for 2026/27, the same price as last season. Juniors get access to tickets, £5 off men's Premier League home tickets, a £15 shop voucher or a membership pack, a chance to be a matchday mascot between the ages of 5 and 12, and a free junior stadium tour pass.

How do I cancel my Manchester City membership?

Within 14 days of buying, contact Fan Support through the club's contact form, as long as you have not used a benefit or bought tickets. After that, you can stop the next automatic renewal. The club's 2025/26 terms say to call Fan Support by 5pm UK time on the working day before it.

Does a Manchester City membership renew automatically?

Yes. The club's help pages say every membership is valid for 12 months and renews automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date. The payment comes from the card you used to join, so note the date when you buy, and cancel in time if you do not want another season.

What is the difference between Cityzens and a Manchester City membership?

Cityzens is the club's free fan account, with competitions, polls and personalised content. A paid Official Membership, at £38, £65 or £20, adds the right to buy Premier League home tickets, £5 off each ticket and extras such as shop vouchers. For some Champions League sales, Cityzens registered by a set date can also buy.

How many tickets can a Manchester City member buy?

It depends on the game. For Aston Villa, Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham, each member can buy one ticket. For most other league games, the limit is up to four tickets per member. The match page shows the limit, and Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Leeds also need a record of past purchases.

Can a new Manchester City member buy tickets for the big games?

Sometimes. Tottenham, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle are open to new and existing members, one ticket each. Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Leeds go first to members with three or more home league purchases across 2024/25 and 2025/26. A new member's realistic route to those games is the further release.

How much does a season ticket for Manchester City in the 2026/27 season cost?

City kept general admission renewal prices at the same rate for a third season, and it lists the price for each seat on its 2026/27 Stadium Pricing Maps. New season tickets go to Matchday Members who meet the club's criteria, and they are invited by email with a window to buy.
