Benfica v Sporting Lisbon: date, kick-off and how to watch

The Lisbon derby, Benfica v Sporting Lisbon, is scheduled for Sunday 27 December 2026 at the Estádio da Luz, two days after Christmas. It is a Liga Portugal fixture between neighbours from the same city, and Benfica's calendar still has the kick-off as undecided, with the date marked provisional.

Official sale: not on sale yet at the official seller (checked 5 Nov 2026).

Seats listed on Hellotickets start at £155 in the Upper Tier, checked 5 Nov 2026.

For the derby the question is not when the public sale opens but whether it happens at all once members have bought.

Sporting CP visit the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica on Sunday 27 December 2026, according to Benfica's calendar, with the time "to be defined". Over the Christmas period travel needs planning anyway, and an unconfirmed kick-off adds one more reason to keep bookings flexible.

Lisbon is on the same winter time as the UK, so the published kick-off will be the UK time. UK coverage of the derby will be confirmed by the broadcasters; no channel has been announced.

Official ticketing

Not on sale yet at the clubchecked 5 Nov

Not on sale yet at the club (no sale dates announced); Sun 27 Dec, kick-off time still to be set.

  • Sale not announced (shop lists only fixtures to 5 Nov); usual order: Red Pass, members, then registered fans and public · to come

Membership: Sócio (member with dues paid) and Red Pass season ticket; registered-fan account for public sales.

How to get Benfica v Sporting Lisbon tickets

The sale has not opened and Benfica has not given a date. On the club's usual league timetable it would start around three weeks before the game, which puts it in early December, in the run-up to Christmas.

Who gets in first. Red Pass holders, Benfica's season ticket holders, have priority for extra seats. Sócios with their dues paid come next. Only then does the sale reach registered fans, Casa Benfica members and the public, and for a derby that last phase may be short or may not happen.

What it might cost. Benfica has not priced the derby. The recent Alverca league game, priced from €20 for members and €30 for the public, shows the member discount but is not a guide to a fixture of this size.

How the club sells. slbenfica.pt and the app, the Bilheteira Centenário at the stadium, Benfica Official Stores and Casas do Benfica. Purchases are capped at five tickets, each in a named holder's name, with no exchanges or refunds.

Members' second chance. When the board activates it, the Mercado Secundário lets Red Pass holders sell seats they cannot use through the official app or site, with 50% of the sale value credited to their virtual wallet.

Without membership, resale is the practical route: seats listed on Hellotickets come from sellers who set their own prices, and the final price is shown before you pay. Sporting's own fixtures are on Sporting Lisbon tickets.

Good to know before you go

  • Sale over the festive periodIf Benfica keeps its three-week lead, the derby goes on sale in early December; members should have dues paid and accounts ready before then.

  • Expect thorough checksEvery spectator is searched, and alcohol, fireworks, weapons and pyrotechnics cannot be brought in; for the derby, reach the stadium early.
  • Resale deliveryHellotickets sends tickets as soon as it receives them from the seller, sometimes up to 1–2 days before the event, which over Christmas may mean late December.

Where to sit at Estadio Da Luz

The Luz holds 68,100 across Floors 0 to 3. For the derby, "Upper Tier" listings on Floor 3, the top ring and largest level, are where prices begin, with a view over the whole bowl and both ends. "Middle Tier" covers Floors 1 and 2, the narrower levels with the presidential box and the members' boxes. "Shortside" puts you behind a goal.

Floor 0, at pitch level, holds sectors 28 and 5-6 for Benfica's organised fan groups, and its rows A and B are low enough that the club advises a height of 1.70 m. Some derby listings are "seller's choice", with the block assigned by the seller. Benfica does not publish the away section, so confirm your block if you want to be among home fans.

Frequently asked questions

Is Benfica v Sporting Lisbon sold out?

Not yet: Benfica has not opened the sale. When it does, Red Pass holders and paid-up members buy first, and for the Lisbon derby little or nothing may reach the public phase. Resale seats are listed on Hellotickets for fans without membership.

What time is kick-off for Benfica v Sporting Lisbon?

It has not been announced. Benfica's calendar lists Sunday 27 December 2026 with the time to be defined, and the date may still move. Lisbon shares UK time in winter, so the kick-off, once confirmed, will be the same in London.

How much are Benfica v Sporting Lisbon tickets?

Benfica has not published derby prices. A regular league game against Alverca started at €20 for members and €30 for the public, but the derby is a far bigger occasion. Resale seats on Hellotickets start at £155 in the Upper Tier, checked 5 Nov 2026.

Can I buy Benfica v Sporting Lisbon tickets without being a member?

Only if the sale reaches the public phase after Red Pass holders and members, which is uncertain for a derby. A registered-fan account on slbenfica.pt is required for that phase. Resale listings on Hellotickets are open without membership, with prices set by sellers.

Where is Benfica v Sporting Lisbon played?
