Wrexham v Bolton Wanderers: date, kick-off and how to watch

Wrexham welcome Bolton Wanderers on New Year's Day: a Championship fixture at the Racecourse Ground on Friday 1 January, kick-off 3pm. It is a short trip for the visitors from the north-west, and a bank-holiday afternoon game for Wrexham's members.

Resale listings on Hellotickets begin at £148 in the Stok Cold Brew Coffee Stand (checked 5 Nov 2026).

The thing to plan around is the ballot. Wrexham sell home league tickets only to Official Members through a draw for each match, and Bolton's draw has not been scheduled yet.

How to get Wrexham v Bolton Wanderers tickets

Wrexham have replaced the general sale with a ballot for 2026/27 because only a small allocation is released match by match. For a New Year's Day game, that process starts in late autumn.

  • Who can apply: Official Members only, at one of three levels: Digital Dragon at £25 for adults, Red Dragon at £35 or Gold Dragon at £50.
  • When: the Bolton ballot has no date yet. Recent ballots opened 29 to 39 days before the game, so expect it around late November or early December. Each ballot has its own closing date.
  • How it works: one entry per person; an application is filled in full or not at all; the draw is made on closing day and winners pay straight away.
  • Second chance: a further ballot of 100 tickets is reserved for unsuccessful members who have not attended a game this season.
  • After the draw: season ticket holders can put seats on the members-only Ticket Exchange, which the club says often has tickets right up to matchday.

Face value does not change with the opponent: adults from £28 in the University End, more in the Macron and Wrexham Lager stands, with no booking fees. Hospitality for the match is released once the ballot is over.

Without membership, seats listed on Hellotickets are the remaining route. Sellers set their own prices, which can be above face value, and the final price is shown before you pay. Other dates are on Wrexham tickets, including Wrexham v Sheffield United tickets later in January.

Where to sit at Wrexham Racecourse Ground

Bolton's supporters will be in the Wrexham Lager Stand, using both its upper and lower tiers and entering through Gates 1-4. That two-tier stand runs along one touchline and also houses the dressing rooms and the entrance to the Bamford Suite, Executive Lounge and Dugout Club.

Home areas are the Macron Stand along the Mold Road side, built in 1999 with private boxes, and the Tech End behind one goal, home of Jonesy's Bar. Resale lists the Tech End under its sponsored name, spelt "Stok Cold Brew Cofee Stand". Behind the other goal, the Kop is under construction this season.

On Hellotickets, "Shortside Upper" and "Shortside Lower" are behind a goal, while "Longside" listings run along a touchline. A Longside listing could sit in either side stand, so ask before buying if you need to avoid the away tiers.
