At a glance

  • AO Arena is the sponsor's name for Manchester Arena, in the Victoria Station complex. It holds 23,000 people at most.
  • Block numbers start with the tier: 1 for lower, 2 for upper. The floor can be standing or seated, depending on the show.
  • At an end-stage show, Blocks 108 and 109 sit straight opposite the stage. Side-view seats may not see the screens.
  • Under-14s are not allowed on a standing floor, and neither are crutches or walking aids.
  • One small bag per person, about A4, and there is nowhere to store a bigger one. The arena is cashless, with no re-admission.
AO Arena seating plan
Stage123
  1. Floor: Standing, or seated Blocks A to M, depending on the show.
  2. Lower tier (100 level): Blocks 101 to 122, Rows A to X. Row A is nearest the floor.
  3. Upper tier (200 level): Blocks 201 to 222, Rows A to R. Starts 16 steps up from the concourse.

Simple plan, not to scale.

The AO Arena seating plan has three levels: the floor, a lower tier with blocks in the 100s and an upper tier with blocks in the 200s. The Manchester venue holds 23,000 people at most. For most first-timers, Blocks 108 and 109 are the safest buy, because they sit straight opposite the stage.

The full list of dates, with sale status, sits near the end. To compare arenas in other cities, open the UK venues page.

How does the AO Arena seating plan work?

The AO Arena seating plan works by tier and block, and the version for your show is on its Ticketmaster event page. AO Arena is the sponsor’s name for Manchester Arena, which opened on 15 July 1995 inside the Victoria Station complex in the city centre. It was once called the MEN Arena, so old plans under those names show this same building.

Think of each tier as one ring of seats, cut into numbered blocks. Your ticket gives the block first, then the row and the seat.

Level Blocks Rows What it is like
Floor Unreserved when standing. Lettered A to M when seated Set for each show Closest to the stage. Standing holds 6,200 at most
Lower tier (100 level) 101 to 122 A to X Fixed seats rising from the floor. Row A is at the front
Upper tier (200 level) 201 to 222 A to R Fixed seats above the lower tier, with the same angles from further back

Each show has its own layout, including boxing, darts, Disney On Ice and Strictly Come Dancing. Always open the map for your own date.

How do block and seat numbers work at AO Arena?

AO Arena block numbers start with the tier, so Block 108 is on the lower tier and Block 208 is on the upper tier. The venue’s FAQ explains the rest:

  • End-stage shows: an end stage sits at one end of the arena. The tiered seats then start at Block 102 and run anticlockwise to Block 115.
  • Seat numbers: these count up from 1. In Blocks 102 to 105 and 202 to 205, seat 1 is nearest the stage. In Blocks 112 to 115 and 212 to 215, seat 1 is furthest away.
  • Floor blocks: the venue uses letters A to M on one page and numbers 1 to 18 on another, so go by your show’s map.

What do side view, restricted view and rear view mean?

These AO Arena ticket labels warn you about the view before you pay, and the venue’s glossary explains them.

Label What it means
Side view Beside the stage. You may not see the screens
Restricted View Production or stage equipment may block part of your view
Rear View Behind the stage at some in-the-round shows, where the stage sits in the middle. You see the artists through the back-line, meaning the band’s equipment
AP Accessible platform, level and wheelchair accessible
CP Camera platform, also level and wheelchair accessible, with fewer places

Where are the best seats at AO Arena?

For most people, Blocks 108 and 109 on the lower tier are the best seats at AO Arena, straight opposite an end stage. You see the stage and screens head-on, from a raised seat. These are rules of thumb, not a venue ranking.

  • Best for being close: the standing floor, or seated floor blocks at a seated show.
  • Best for the whole production: Blocks 208 and 209 on the upper tier, facing the stage from higher up.
  • Best for a shorter walk: the back rows of the lower tier. Row X is 10 steps from the concourse, the walkway behind the seats, while Row A is 73.
  • Best for children: any tiered block, because under-14s are not allowed on a standing floor.
  • Best on a tighter budget: start with the upper tier and compare prices on your show’s map.
  • Not ideal for big pop shows: anything labelled side view, if the screens matter to you.

What is the view from your seat at AO Arena?

The view from your seat at AO Arena depends on where your block sits against the stage. The best tools are the Ticketmaster interactive seat map for your show and fan photos on sites such as A View From My Seat. Here is how the bowl works at an end-stage show.

Blocks Where they are View
108, 109 and 208, 209 Straight opposite the stage Head-on, with the screens in front of you
106, 107, 110, 111 and 206, 207, 210, 211 The far corners A slight angle, still facing the stage
102 to 105 and 112 to 115, with 202 to 205 and 212 to 215 above Along the sides Closer, but side-on. Seats nearest the stage may be sold as side view
117 to 122 and 217 to 222 Behind the stage Sold only at some shows, labelled rear view

Is it better to stand or sit at AO Arena?

Sitting suits most people at AO Arena, and standing suits adults who want to be in the crowd. The floor holds up to 6,200 people standing, and your spot depends on when you get in.

  • Queuing: the venue does not encourage fans to queue early or camp outside. There are several routes in, so being early does not mean being first.
  • Age limit: under-14s are not permitted on the floor at standing shows.
  • Walking aids: crutches and walking aids are not allowed on a standing floor. Contact the venue, and it will look for another place for you.

How much are AO Arena tickets?

AO Arena publishes no general price list for the floor or the tiers, because prices differ from show to show. Ticketmaster is the venue’s ticketing partner, and Live Nation UK also sells some shows. A facility fee, which the venue puts back into its services, is part of the cost.

Premium options are extras sold for each event. Some include a seat, and others need a separate ticket.

Option What you get Worth knowing
Heineken Skyline Private bar with its own Hunts Bank entrance, and a drink on arrival £30 per person. Over-18s only. Show ticket not included
The Mezz Bar or restaurant, with a show ticket in premium padded seats Packages vary
The Beautiful North Super-suite by the stage end with its own bar Holds up to 34 guests

What accessible seating does AO Arena have?

AO Arena has wheelchair accessible seats on Access Platforms 108 and 109, Access Platform 105 Row Z and the Camera Platforms. Block 105 Row Y is 3 steps down and Row X is 10 steps down, both with a handrail, for guests who can walk but need help. You book all of these online through Ticketmaster.

  • Companions: you may get a companion ticket with evidence, such as an Access Card showing the +1 symbol. It must be bought at the time of booking.
  • Booking limit: most events allow 2 tickets per booking in accessible areas, including a companion.
  • Step-free entry: use Victoria station (Entrance C) or Trinity Tunnel (Entrance T). The lift in the station goes to the bridge, at most about 180 metres from the entrance.
  • Hearing: the hearing loop covers Block 114 Rows L to X, and Access Platforms 108 and 109. Switch your hearing aid to the T position.
  • Toilets: these are near Blocks 108, 109, 116, 119 and 120, with a Changing Places toilet near Block 110.
  • Help on the night: Guest Services, opposite Block 101, has house wheelchairs.

How many steps are there to each row at AO Arena?

AO Arena rows are three steps apart, so the closer you sit to the floor, the longer the walk down from the concourse. The venue’s September 2026 access guide gives these counts.

Where Steps
Lower tier, Row X 10 down from the concourse
Lower tier, Row A 73 down from the concourse, or 3 up from the floor
Upper tier, bottom 16 up from the concourse
Upper tier, Row R 47 up from the bottom of the tier, or 3 down from the top
Upper tier, Row A 3 down from the bottom of the tier, or 50 down from the top

A lift also reaches the top of the upper tier. Floor seats and Rows A to C may be easier from the floor lift, so ask a steward.

Bringing children to AO Arena?

Children aged 14 or under must be with an adult at AO Arena. At children’s shows, babes in arms up to 23 months are generally allowed, but check the event page first.

Which entrance should you use at AO Arena?

AO Arena has three main entrances, and your ticket tells you the best one for your block. Every area is open from each entrance, but these are the closest.

Entrance Where it is Closest for
City Room Off Victoria station Blocks 104 to 109 and 204 to 209, floor blocks D to J, standing floor
Trinity Way Near the car park entrance, up stairs only Blocks 110 to 115 and 210 to 215
Hunts Bank Opposite Chetham’s School of Music Blocks 101 to 103, 116 to 122, 201 to 203 and 216 to 222, floor blocks A, B and C

How do you get to AO Arena?

The easiest way to get to AO Arena is by train or tram to Manchester Victoria, because the arena sits within the station complex. The address is Victoria Station, Hunts Bank, Manchester M3 1AR, on the corner of Trinity Way and Great Ducie Street.

  • Train: many national and local services stop at Victoria. Manchester Piccadilly, the main station, is about 0.7 miles away, and the free city-centre bus links the two.
  • Tram: Metrolink runs direct to Victoria from Rochdale, Bury, Altrincham, East Didsbury and the Airport. From elsewhere, change at St Peter’s Square.
  • Bus: Shudehill bus station is a five-minute walk.
  • Driving? The on-site CitiPark car park has 958 spaces, which you can book in advance. Trinity Way closes southbound for up to one hour after concerts, so car park users turn right and follow diversions.
  • Being dropped off? You can do this in the car park at no charge.
  • Taxi? The rank is at the bottom of the Hunts Bank entrance.
  • Travelling from further away? Free Park and Ride sites work with a valid Metrolink ticket. The venue’s curfew, the latest finish time, is 11pm for evening events, and many trams run after shows.
  • Coming from abroad? Manchester Airport is about ten miles away, less than an hour by train or tram.

What are the door times and bag rules at AO Arena?

Arrive at AO Arena as close to the advertised door time as you can. Doors usually open between an hour and an hour and a half before an event, and the time is on the event page and usually on your ticket.

  • Bags: one small bag each, no bigger than 30cm by 20cm by 20cm, about A4. Backpacks, shopping bags, travel cases, laptop bags and large totes are not allowed, and there is no storage.
  • Security: screening is a condition of entry, but you need not empty your pockets or bag.
  • Your ticket: show the live QR code in the Ticketmaster app. Screenshots and print-outs do not work.
  • Paying: the venue is cashless, so use a card or contactless.
  • Food and drink: only items bought inside are allowed, though medical needs are an exception.
  • Clothes: the venue asks you not to wear football colours.
  • Leaving: there is no re-admission of any kind, even to smoke or vape.

What mistakes should you avoid at AO Arena?

Three slips are easy to make at AO Arena: ignoring a side view label, bringing a backpack and using a screenshot of your ticket. Watch for these as well:

  • Assuming seat 1 is the best seat: in some blocks, it is the furthest from the stage.
  • Buying a standing ticket for a child: under-14s will not be allowed on the floor.
  • Mixing up Manchester’s arenas: Co-op Live is a different, newer venue, with its own Co-op Live seating plan.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best seats at AO Arena?

For most people, the best seats at AO Arena are Blocks 108 and 109 on the lower tier, straight opposite an end stage, with the screens in front of you. Blocks 208 and 209 give the same angle from higher up. The standing floor is closest, but under-14s are not allowed on it.

How many people does AO Arena hold?

AO Arena holds 23,000 people at most, the figure the venue published after its £50m redevelopment. Up to 6,200 of those can stand on the floor. The total changes with each show's stage and floor layout.

Is AO Arena the same as Manchester Arena?

Yes. Manchester Arena is the building's official name, and AO Arena has been its sponsor's name since 2020. It was earlier known as the MEN Arena. It stands in the Victoria Station complex in Manchester city centre. It is not Co-op Live, which is a separate, newer arena in the city.

Where can I find the seating plan for Manchester Arena?

The seating plan for your show is on its Ticketmaster event page, because plans vary from show to show. AO Arena also publishes a venue map on its website, showing Blocks 101 to 122 and 201 to 222, the entrances, bars, toilets and lifts. Use both before you choose a seat.

What does side view mean at AO Arena?

Side view at AO Arena means your seat is on the side of the stage, and you may not be able to see the screens. Restricted View means production or stage equipment may block part of your view. Rear View means a seat behind the stage at some in-the-round shows.

How do seat numbers work at AO Arena?

AO Arena seats count up from 1 in each block. In Blocks 102 to 105 and 202 to 205, seat 1 is nearest the stage. In Blocks 112 to 115 and 212 to 215, seat 1 is furthest away. So a low number is not always a better seat, and your show's map is the best guide.

Is the floor at AO Arena seated or standing?

The floor at AO Arena can be either, depending on the show, and the event page tells you which. Standing holds up to 6,200 people, with no numbered spots. Seated floor layouts use their own blocks. Under-14s are not allowed on a standing floor, and neither are crutches or walking aids.

Which entrance should I use at AO Arena?

Your AO Arena ticket shows the best entrance. City Room, off Victoria station, is closest for Blocks 104 to 109 and 204 to 209 and the standing floor. Trinity Way, up stairs only, serves Blocks 110 to 115 and 210 to 215. Hunts Bank serves the rest. Every area is open from each one.

What size bag can I take into AO Arena?

AO Arena allows one small bag per person, no bigger than 30cm by 20cm by 20cm, about A4. Backpacks, shopping bags, travel cases, laptop bags and large tote bags are not allowed. There is no bag storage at the venue, so leave anything bigger at your hotel or at home.

Where can I park at AO Arena?

AO Arena's on-site CitiPark car park has 958 spaces, which you can book in advance on the CitiPark website. Its 40 Blue Badge bays cannot be booked and are first come, first served. After concerts, Trinity Way closes southbound for up to one hour, so car park users must turn right and follow diversions.
