Simple plan, not to scale.

The Utilita Arena Newcastle seating plan has four parts: the floor, a lower tier (Blocks 100 to 114), an upper tier (200 to 218) and a balcony (300 to 302). The arena holds 11,000 people for concerts. For most first-timers, a central block facing the stage is the safest choice.

Upcoming dates are listed lower down, with a link to each artist’s page. To compare other arenas, start at the UK venues page.

How does the Utilita Arena Newcastle seating plan work?

The Utilita Arena Newcastle seating plan works by block, and the first digit of a block number tells you the level. A block is a numbered section of seats. The 100s are the lower tier, the 200s the upper tier and the 300s the balcony. Your ticket shows your block, row and seat.

Utilita Arena Newcastle is an indoor arena on Arena Way, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7NA, on the banks of the River Tyne. It opened on 18 November 1995. Some people still say Newcastle Arena or Metro Radio Arena, its name from 2004 to 2019. So a Newcastle Arena seating plan or floor plan means this building.

Level Blocks Where it is Getting to your seat
Floor A to E when seated, none when standing In front of the stage Flat, on the arena floor
Lower tier 100 to 114 Around three sides of the floor Steps with no handrails
Upper tier 200 to 218 Behind the lower tier Lift or stairs to the level, then steps
Balcony 300 to 302 At the very back, opposite the stage Lift or stairs to the level, then very steep steps

How do the block numbers run around the arena?

The block numbers run in a horseshoe around the floor, starting next to the stage. The arena’s own plan shows this layout:

  • Lower tier: Blocks 100 to 104 run along one side, 105 to 109 wrap around the far end, and 110 to 114 come back along the other side.
  • Upper tier: Blocks 200 to 205 sit behind the first side, 206 to 212 cross the far end, and 213 to 218 sit behind the other side.
  • Balcony: Blocks 300, 301 and 302 are at the very back, directly opposite the stage.
  • Floor: when the floor is seated, Blocks A, B, C, D and E run back from the stage, with A nearest to it.

What is the capacity of Utilita Arena Newcastle?

Utilita Arena Newcastle has a concert capacity of 11,000, the figure Wikipedia gives, citing the operator. In January 2026, Legends Global, the operator, announced a modernisation with a new mezzanine level and premium lounges, so facilities may change.

Is the floor at Utilita Arena Newcastle standing or seated?

The floor at Utilita Arena Newcastle is standing at some shows and seated at others, and the event page tells you which. A standing ticket is general admission, which means no numbered spot. A seated floor ticket gives you a chair in one of Blocks A to E.

  • Children: no child aged 14 or under is allowed on a standing floor.
  • Injuries: nobody using crutches or walking aids can go on a standing floor, even with friends beside them. The arena will try to find you an accessible place instead.
  • The crowd: the arena says movement on the floor is unpredictable. Long periods of standing in a crowd are not advised if you are pregnant.

Standing suits fans who want to be close and are happy on their feet all night. If you want a fixed place, buy a seat in a tier.

Where are the best seats at Utilita Arena Newcastle?

The best seats at Utilita Arena Newcastle for a straight view are Blocks 106 to 108 in the lower tier, which face the stage from the far end. Blocks 208 to 210 sit behind them in the upper tier, at the same angle but further back.

  • Best for a head-on view: Block 107, then Block 209. Each is in the centre of its tier at the far end.
  • Best for being close in a seat: the side blocks near the stage, such as 101 or 113. The nearer you get, the more you see the stage from the side.
  • Best for being closest of all: the floor. At a seated show, Block A is the front block.
  • Best for sound: the arena gives no advice on this. As a rough rule, choose a central block at the far end.
  • Not worth it if stairs are hard for you: the balcony, which has very steep steps.

The arena publishes no list of restricted seats, and the stage changes from tour to tour. So read the seat description on your booking page before you pay.
