The Premier League has the game down for Saturday 6 February 2027 at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, on a provisional basis and without a confirmed kick-off time.
Should it stay at 3pm on the Saturday, it falls under the UK blackout on 3pm Saturday Premier League matches, so there will be no live UK broadcast. A move to a televised slot would bring a new date or time, with the UK broadcaster named in the league's listings, so confirm the details before arranging travel.

How to get Sunderland v Aston Villa tickets
The route for a first-timer has three steps, and the first one costs money before you know whether you will get a seat.
You need a Black Cats Adult Membership, at £48 a season, or an Academy Membership, because the club sells home league games through members' ballots. Then, when Sunderland publish the Villa window in their weekly ticket news, you opt in during the two days it is open. Results come by email from 4pm the day after it closes. Bear in mind that some fixtures are restricted to members with purchase history, which a new member may not yet have.
At the last check, the Villa window and price category were unannounced. The club's 2026/27 bulletins list adult Category A tickets, the band of the Leeds United game, from £39. If seats are left after the draw, Sunderland can open a further phase, as they did with a restricted general sale for Leeds. Hospitality is sold apart on the club's ticketing site.
The alternative is resale. Seats listed on Hellotickets are priced by their sellers, can cost more than face value and show the final price before you pay. Look at how the ticket is delivered; when you can use the ballot, it is usually the less expensive way in. For Villa's own fixtures, see Aston Villa tickets.
Good to know before you go
- New members and purchase historySome Sunderland fixtures are restricted to members with purchase history, so joining just before the Villa ballot may not be enough on its own.
- Villa fans: turnstiles 69-74The away section is reached through turnstiles 69-74 in the North Stand. Searches apply to every supporter, so leave time before kick-off.
- Arriving by carWessington Way (A1231) links the ground to the A19 and A1, but there is no general supporter parking, and the stadium site closes to vehicles from 30 minutes before kick-off.
- Bags and paymentBring nothing bigger than an A4 bag, as there is no left-luggage facility, and a card or phone to pay with: the stadium is cashless.
Where to sit at Stadium of Light
The Stadium of Light holds 48,095 for football this season, according to the Premier League Handbook. Sunderland's loudest supporters gather in the Roker End, the South Stand, renamed in December 2018 after the old Roker Park end. Villa's fans will be at the other end, high in the North Stand Upper, where visiting supporters stay for 2026/27 under a one-season Premier League dispensation.
The Jimmy Montgomery Stand (West Stand) is the main stand, with the Premier Concourse in its upper tier, and the East Stand runs along the other touchline. On Hellotickets, "Central Longside Seats" are near halfway, other Longside seats along the touchlines and Shortside seats behind the goals; away-section listings sit with the Villa fans. The Stadium of Light seating plan has the detail.
