Athletic Club v Real Madrid: date, kick-off and how to watch

Real Madrid play Athletic Club at the Estadio San Mamés in Bilbao in La Liga, provisionally on Sunday 6 December 2026 (matchday 15), with day and time still to be confirmed.

General tickets are not on sale yet at the official seller, checked 5 Nov 2026, but Athletic's VIP seats for this match are already on sale.

On Hellotickets, resale seats start at £261 in the Shortside (checked 5 Nov 2026).

If Athletic keeps to its usual timing, the general sale should open in mid-November, after a four-day head start for Club Athletic members.

Athletic's own calendar lists matchday 15 on 6 December with "fecha y hora por determinar": date and time to be set. LaLiga typically fixes them about 3 to 4 weeks ahead, which puts the announcement in the first half of November.

The venue is settled: San Mamés, Bilbao. The broadcaster is named when LaLiga publishes the slot, and we do not guess it. For UK viewers, subtract one hour from the Spanish kick-off.

How to get Athletic Club v Real Madrid tickets

Three routes exist at the club, and they are at different stages.

VIP hospitality: open now. Athletic lists VIP seats separately from general tickets, sold through its OneBox ticketing, and for Real Madrid they already show "Compra ahora" (buy now).
Club Athletic pre-sale: not yet. Members of the Club Athletic supporter community can buy 4 days before the public, up to 2 tickets each.
General sale: not yet. The club usually opens online sales at 10.30am on the Monday three weeks before the match, on athletic-club.eus and at the San Mamés ticket offices. Until then, the "Avísame" button on the fixture page sends you an email when tickets are released.

For context, on 20 October Athletic was selling only its next two home games, against Getafe on 25 October and Real Sociedad on 1 November.

Real Madrid supporters will find no separate away area on the resale map, so check what your own club offers for the trip before buying among home fans.

Resale is the other option. Seats listed on Hellotickets come from sellers who set their own prices, which can be above face value; the final price appears before you pay. The Real Madrid tickets page has Madrid's other fixtures, and La Liga tickets the rest of the league.

Two-ticket pre-saleClub Athletic members get 4 days' priority but a limit of 2 tickets each, so groups may need to wait for the general sale.
Resale deliveryHellotickets sends tickets as soon as it receives them from the seller, sometimes up to 1–2 days before the event.

Where to sit at Estadio San Mames

Without a verified stand-by-stand guide to San Mamés, the resale zones are the best way to read the ground. Most use Spanish terms worth knowing: a Fondo is an end behind a goal, a Lateral a stand along the touchline; Grada Alta is upper tier and Grada Baja lower tier.

For Real Madrid, the zones on Hellotickets are Shortside and Short Side (behind a goal), Fondo Grada Alta and Fondo Grada Baja (the two tiers of an end), Lateral Grada Alta and Lateral Grada Baja (the two tiers of a side), and Long Side Upper and Long Side Lower. Category 2 is a price band rather than an area.

A seat high behind the goal gives the full shape of the game; a lower lateral seat puts you close to the touchline.
