Principality Stadium, called the Millennium Stadium until 2016, opened in June 1999 on Westgate Street in the centre of Cardiff, on the east bank of the River Taff. It has 73,931 seats under the first fully retractable roof in the UK and is the home of the Wales national rugby union team. Its record crowd, just over 78,000, came for a boxing night: Anthony Joshua against Carlos Takam in 2017.
Who sells your ticket depends on the event. The Welsh Rugby Union sells Wales matches first to member clubs, debenture holders and WRU Premium Supporters, then to WRU Official Members and pre-registered fans, before what is left goes on public sale; the Welsh Rugby Supporter Exchange, run by Seat Unique, is its official resale platform. Tyson Fury v Anthony Joshua on Friday 11 December, a Queensberry Promotions bill also listed by Matchroom Boxing, is sold by Ticketmaster UK, where standard seats started at £436.50 on 21 October. AEG Presents sells Andrea Bocelli on Saturday 8 May 2027 through AXS, Ticketmaster UK and venue box offices.
7 events are listed below. Across them, seats listed on Hellotickets start from £62 (checked 5 Nov 2026).
First up: Wales v Japan - Nations Championship 2026 on Saturday 7 November.
The three November Nations Championship matches have been on general sale since 24 April, adults from £26 and under-18s from £13.50. The WRU lists Wales v Japan for Saturday 7 November at 4.40pm, so if a resale listing shows another date for this game, go by the WRU's. Wales v New Zealand kicks off at 2.10pm on Saturday 14 November, and Wales v Australia at 8.10pm on Saturday 21 November.
For the 2027 Six Nations, member clubs had tickets from 4 August and Official Members from 30 September, and the public sale opened at noon on 2 October. Wales v Ireland, on Saturday 20 February at 2.10pm, starts at £68.50 (£36 concession); Wales v England, on Saturday 6 March at 4.40pm, starts at £73.50 (£38.50 concession), and its middle tier sold out within two hours.

Principality Stadium guide: tiers, gates and hospitality
Seating plan and stands
The bowl runs north-south and has three tiers almost all the way round: the lower tier (23,154 seats), the middle tier on Levels 4 and 5 (15,626) and the upper tier on Level 6 (35,151). The four stands are:
- North Stand: behind the posts beside Cardiff Arms Park, with two tiers only. It is the stand kept from the old National Stadium, which leaves a break in the bowl known as Glanmor's Gap; Gate 1, on Castle Street via the River Walk, is on this side.
- South Stand: behind the posts at the other end, on three tiers, once the Hyder Stand. Gate 5 (Park Street) and Gates 6-7 (Millennium Plaza) serve it.
- East Stand: along the Westgate Street touchline, on three tiers, formerly the BT Stand, with Gates 2 and 3 on Westgate Street.
- West Stand: along the River Taff touchline, on three tiers, with the River Walk behind it.
Your ticket shows the block, aisle and entry gate. On Hellotickets, rugby listings are grouped by tier (Lower, Middle and Upper Tier), with some labelled Behind The Posts or Longside Seating; others give a block code such as U24 or L36, which you can match against the stadium's seating plan. Standing during matches is not permitted.
Concert layouts differ: Andrea Bocelli's listings add a Floor area, and a partition drape can scale the bowl down to between 12,000 and 46,000. Our Principality Stadium seating plan takes the blocks tier by tier.
Getting there
The stadium is in the city centre, roads around it close on event days, and most people arrive by train:
- Cardiff Central: a five-minute walk. Bear left along Wood Street for Gates 5, 6 and 7, or right along Wood Street to Westgate Street for Gates 4, 3 and 2, and on to Gate 1 on Castle Street. A queuing system normally operates at the station after events.
- Cardiff Queen Street: about a 15-minute walk, for local and Valleys services.
- Bus: Cardiff Bus uses different city-centre stops while the roads are closed, and the council runs park and ride for large events.
- Car: there is no dedicated spectator parking at or near the stadium. Use the city-centre car parks (North Road, St David's, John Lewis, Capitol or NCP); Blue Badge holders are advised to use Sophia Gardens.
Everyone is searched before the turnstiles, so go to the gate printed on your ticket and finish food and drink before you enter. Only small bags are allowed, no larger than 35 x 40 x 19 cm or a standard handbag, and there is no bag storage. The stadium has been cashless since 1 February 2020, with card and phone payments for food and drink, though the Macron merchandise units also take cash. Smoking, e-cigarettes included, is not allowed in the main bowl.
Hospitality
The stadium has 112 private hospitality suites and seven lounges. For Wales matches, hospitality is sold separately from the WRU's ticket sales, by the stadium: Official WRU Hospitality packages go through Cardiff Conferences.
Fury v Joshua follows the same split. Ticketmaster UK sells the standard seats and runs Verified Resale for fans' tickets, at prices set by the sellers, while the stadium sells the hospitality packages through its own ticketing site.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Principality Stadium the same as the Millennium Stadium?
Yes. It opened in June 1999 as the Millennium Stadium and has been called Principality Stadium since 2016, though some fans still use the old name. It is the same ground on Westgate Street in Cardiff city centre, home of the Wales national rugby union team, with 73,931 seats and a fully retractable roof.
Where to park in Cardiff on match day?
Not at the stadium: there is no dedicated spectator parking at or near it, and the surrounding roads close on event days. Use a city-centre car park such as North Road, St David's, John Lewis, Capitol or NCP, or the council's park and ride for large events. Blue Badge holders are advised to use Sophia Gardens.
How do you buy Wales rugby tickets at the Principality Stadium?
From the Welsh Rugby Union. Member clubs, debenture holders and WRU Premium Supporters buy first, then WRU Official Members and pre-registered fans, and any remaining tickets go on public sale. The 2027 Six Nations public sale opened at noon on 2 October, and the November Nations Championship games have been on general sale since 24 April, adults from £26.
What size bag can you take into the Principality Stadium?
Only a small bag, no larger than 35 x 40 x 19 cm, or a standard handbag. There is no bag storage at the stadium and everyone is searched before the turnstiles, so leave anything bigger at home. Food and drink are paid for by card or phone, as the stadium is cashless, though the Macron merchandise units take cash too.
Does the Principality Stadium have a roof?
Yes. It was the first stadium in the UK with a fully retractable roof, which covers the whole bowl. According to the stadium, the opening measures 105 m by 80 m and takes about 20 minutes to open, so rugby, boxing and concerts can all go ahead under cover.
