Simple plan, not to scale.
The OVO Hydro seating plan has a floor and three seated areas: Level 0 (blocks 050 to 058), Level 2 (201 to 238) and Level 3 (324 to 335). The Glasgow arena holds 14,300 people at most. For most fans, Level 0 or the front of Level 2 gives the best mix of view and short climb.
What is on, and what has sold out, is on the OVO Hydro tickets page.
How does the OVO Hydro seating plan work?
The OVO Hydro seating plan works by level, block and row, and all three are on your ticket. A block is a numbered section of seats, and a row is a line of seats inside it. The floor changes with each show, while the seated levels stay the same.
The OVO Hydro is a concert arena on the Scottish Event Campus, on the north bank of the River Clyde in Glasgow, at Exhibition Way, G3 8YW. It opened on 30 September 2013 as the SSE Hydro and was renamed in October 2021. So older plans may say SSE Hydro or SECC Hydro.
The campus publishes a maximum capacity of 14,300, seated and standing. Wikipedia gives 12,306 for a fully seated layout.
What do the block and row numbers mean?
The first digit of a block gives the level: 0 for Level 0, 2 for Level 2 and 3 for Level 3. The OVO Hydro’s step-count sheet then shows how many steps it takes to reach each row.
| Area | Blocks | Rows | Steps to your row | How you get there |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arena floor | Depends on the show | Depends on the show | None | Ground floor |
| Level 0 | 050 to 058 | A to J | 2 to 18. In 052, 053, 055 and 056, 0 to 12 | Ground floor |
| Level 2 front | 201 to 218 | A to G | 0 to 15 in 201 to 206 and 213 to 218. 9 to 27 in 207 to 212 | Lifts and escalators to the concourse, the walkway behind the seats |
| Level 2 rear | 221 to 238 | H to V | 16 to 49 | Stairs with handrails |
| Level 3 | 324 to 335 | W to JJ | 60 to 96 | Stairs only |
| Accessible areas | 001 to 012, plus platforms on Level 2 | Flexible seating | None for wheelchair spaces, 4 at most for ambulant seats | Ramp on the ground floor, lift to Level 2 |
Row letters skip I and O, so H is followed by J, and N by P. A low letter does not always mean a short walk. In blocks 201 to 206, Row F has no steps, while Row A is 15 steps away.
Where are the best seats at the OVO Hydro?
The best seats at the OVO Hydro for most people are on Level 0 or in the front section of Level 2. Level 0 is closest to the stage, and lifts or escalators take you to the Level 2 concourse. The stage position changes, so check the plan for your own show.
- Best for being close in a seat: Level 0, blocks 052, 053, 055 or 056. The front row has no steps, and the back row has 12.
- Best raised view with little climbing: Level 2 front, blocks 201 to 206 or 213 to 218. Every row is within 15 steps.
- Best for being in the crowd: the standing floor, when your show has one.
- Best when the front has gone: Level 2 rear, Rows H to V.
Is Level 3 at the OVO Hydro too high?
Level 3 at the OVO Hydro is a long climb: 60 steps to Row W and 96 to Row JJ, the back row. The lifts stop at the first two concourses, so the rest is stairs with handrails. It suits fans who are happy to climb, but not anyone with mobility difficulties.
Screens are the promoter’s decision, not the venue’s, so do not count on them from the back of Level 3.
How can you check the view from your seat at the OVO Hydro?
To check the view from your seat at the OVO Hydro, use the seating plan Ticketmaster shows when you book. Ticketmaster is the arena’s official ticketing partner, and its plan is the one for your show. The venue’s visitor pages offer no seat-by-seat view.
- Find your show on the venue’s events page and follow the Ticketmaster link.
- Find the stage on the plan, then choose a block.
- Check the steps for your row in the table above.
- Read the seat description. Restricted-view seats, where something blocks part of the stage, are sometimes released at very popular shows.
- Open the Venue Map on the OVO Hydro’s website to see what is on each level.
- Look at fans’ photos on sites such as A View From My Seat. They give a rough idea only, because the stage moves.
Sold out? The venue says more seats can be released nearer the day, once the stage layout is confirmed.
Is the floor at the OVO Hydro standing or seated?
The floor at the OVO Hydro is standing or seated, depending on the show, so read your listing. Looking for a Disney On Ice or Strictly seating plan? Use the one on that show’s booking page.
If your floor ticket is standing, these rules shape your night:
- Queuing: early queuing is discouraged, and queuing or camping overnight is not allowed.
- Crowd safety: crowd surfing and moshing are not tolerated, and anyone caught can be ejected without a refund.
In the seats, standing works on majority rules: if most people around you stand, you can too. If your seat is in front of an accessible area, you may be asked to stay seated.
What premium seats and suites does the OVO Hydro have?
Premium seats at the OVO Hydro are The Terrace on Level 2 and The Nest on Level 3, sold as Venue Premium tickets through Ticketmaster. Suites are booked by enquiring with the venue. Both premium areas are reached by stairs.
| Option | Where | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| The Terrace | Level 2 | Raised, padded seats with a ledge for drinks, a welcome drink and in-seat ordering |
| The Nest | Level 3 | Fast-track entry through the Hydro Club entrance, reserved seats, and the Capital Starsuite and Clubhouse lounges |
| Executive Suites | Private | Up to 16 guests, with balcony views and dedicated service |
| Super Suites | Shared | From 4 guests, with premium seats and inclusive dining |
Premium is best for a special night out or a work group. Skip The Terrace if you have small children, because the venue says its high seats may not suit them.

Can you bring children to the OVO Hydro?
You can bring children to the OVO Hydro, but the venue recommends that under-14s stay out of the standing area. It also recommends that under-5s skip concerts not aimed at children. Every child needs a ticket, except babes in arms under 12 months, who may sit on a knee.
A small number of booster seats can be borrowed for ground-floor seats, so book a seated block on Level 0.
How do you get to the OVO Hydro?
The easiest way to get to the OVO Hydro is the train from Glasgow Central to Exhibition Centre, a three-minute ride from Platform 17 (low level). Six trains run each hour. A lift then takes you up to street level, and a covered walkway leads to the campus.
- By Subway? Get off at St Enoch, then walk a few minutes to Glasgow Central.
- Arriving at Queen Street? Walk or take a bus to Glasgow Central, then take the low-level train.
- Driving? The 24-hour multi-storey at 10 Stobcross Road, G3 8GS, is run by Glasgow City Council. Spaces cannot be reserved, and Blue Badge bays are on levels 0 to 4.
- Being dropped off? The free area is off Stobcross Road, at the rear of the SEC Centre. An accessible shuttle runs to within 130m of the Hydro’s south main entrance.
- Travelling from outside Glasgow? Timings are usually confirmed 2 to 3 days before the show, so check your last train then.
What time should you arrive at the OVO Hydro, and what can you bring?
Arrive at the OVO Hydro for doors, and allow an extra hour for security, the venue suggests. Exact timings go on the event page 2 to 3 days before the show. At most events you can still get in until 30 minutes before the end.
- Your ticket: your phone is your ticket, and screenshots are not accepted. Transfer tickets to friends in the Ticketmaster app, or your party must arrive together.
- Phone trouble: the Box Office in the SEC Centre opens at 3pm on show days and can find your booking if you bring ID.
- Bags: handbags and small carrier bags are fine. Suitcases, backpacks and large handbags of A3 size (30cm x 42cm) or more are not.
- Food and drink: anything from outside is generally not allowed.
- Paying: the arena is cashless, so bring a card or pay by contactless.
- Smoking: shelters are outside, and your ticket is scanned as you leave and return. Some events have a no pass-out policy, so you cannot come back in.
- Selfie sticks: these are banned across the campus.
What mistakes should you avoid at the OVO Hydro?
The main mistakes at the OVO Hydro are booking Level 3 without counting the steps, arriving with a rucksack and sharing one phone between a group:
- Ignoring the step count: if stairs are hard for you, stay on Level 0 or in the accessible areas.
- Keeping every ticket on one phone: transfer them, so nobody waits outside.
- Relying on the big screens: not every show has them.
