Cardiff City Stadium guide: stands, travel and the lounge

Seating plan and stands

Four stands make up the ground, two along the touchlines and one behind each goal:

  • Grandstand: the main stand, on one touchline. The main entrance and reception are outside it, the team dugouts are in front of it and the Premier Lounge is on its Level Four.
  • Ninian Stand: facing the Grandstand and the largest of the four. Its upper tier, the Upper Ninian, dates from 2014, and a small club shop stands by Gate 8.
  • Canton Stand: behind the goal at the Canton end. Cardiff City call it their loudest and most lively home stand, and its back five rows are licensed for safe standing.
  • Family Stand: behind the goal at the Grange end, opposite the Canton Stand. It is for family groups only, with at least one under-16 and one adult in every booking and no more than two adults per junior.

In practice, pick the Canton Stand to stand among the most vocal home fans, the Grandstand or the Ninian Stand for a view along the pitch, and the Family Stand only if a child is in your party.

At Cardiff City matches, visiting supporters come in through Gate 12, the Away Supporters Entrance off Sloper Road, next to their own compound and car park. The club describes the away area as licensed safe standing without naming the stand; FootballGroundGuide puts it in a corner next to the Ninian Stand, in blocks 119-123. The FAW's pages do not name a visiting section for internationals.

When a resale listing gives a stand or a block, check it against our Cardiff City Stadium seating plan before you pay.

Getting there

The train is the easy option, because two stations one stop from Cardiff Central are within a short walk of the turnstiles:

  • Ninian Park: the nearest, about five minutes on foot.
  • Grangetown: about ten minutes' walk.
  • Cardiff Central: the main station, around 25 minutes away on foot or ten minutes by taxi.
  • Bus: services 1 and 2 run from the city centre and Cardiff Bay to Sloper Road, and the 95/95A from Wood Street to Leckwith Road. For Cardiff City league games, a route 95 shuttle leaves Wood Street every 15 minutes from two hours before kick-off, at normal fares.
  • Car: leave the M4 at junction 33, then follow the A4232 and the B4267 (postcode CF11 8AZ). Matchday parking on site is limited and cash only, car parks can shut up to 60 minutes before kick-off, and away fans park in their secured compound off Sloper Road.

On a Cardiff City matchday the gates open 90 minutes before kick-off. Physical and mobile tickets are scanned at the turnstile, followed by a quick body search, and bags are opened, searched and tagged, with nowhere to leave a large one. Wales tickets bought from the FAW are held in the Cymru Tickets app.

Once inside, the kiosks are cashless, e-cigarettes and vapes are banned in the seating bowl, and under-14s must be with an adult.

Hospitality

The stadium's hospitality is the Premier Lounge, on Level Four of the Grandstand, the main stand. At Cardiff City games the club keeps its hospitality areas for home or neutral supporters, so a visiting fan cannot book a lounge seat among them.
