Scotland's national stadium in Mount Florida: concerts and cup days, the four stands, getting there and resale prices.

Updated 5 Nov 2026

Barclays Hampden (Hampden Park), in Mount Florida on the south side of Glasgow, is Scotland's national stadium: home of the national team and host of the Scottish Cup and League Cup semi-finals and finals. It took its sponsor's name in December 2025, though most fans and commentators still call it Hampden.

Events listed on this page: 1. Resale seats on Hellotickets start from £102 (checked 5 Nov 2026).

Next at Hampden: Noah Kahan on Tuesday 13 July.

Summer 2027 brings Noah Kahan on Tuesday 13 July, a concert sold through Ticketmaster UK and still on sale there on 20 October. The venue's own ticket site is tickets.scottishfa.co.uk, while concerts go through each promoter's seller, so the official route changes from one event to the next.

Hampden guide: stands, travel and lounges

Seating plan and stands

Hampden opened on 31 October 1903 and is now an all-seated bowl of four stands holding 51,866 for sport. The bowl shape leaves the two ends a long way from the pitch, so the side stands give the closest view:

  • South Stand (the William Hill South Stand): the main stand along the south touchline, rebuilt for 1999 and the only one with two tiers. It holds the dressing rooms, technical areas, executive boxes, lounges and media facilities.
  • North Stand: facing it along the north touchline, about 9,100 seats in 46 rows, with a small 290-seat gallery above it linked to lounges.
  • East Stand: behind the east goal, a single tier of about 12,800 seats in 53 rows, whose back rows are up to 140 metres from the pitch.
  • West Stand: behind the west goal and, like the East Stand, set well back from the pitch.

At Old Firm cup ties the East Stand is usually the Celtic end and the West Stand the Rangers end, but allocations are set for each match. Cup semi-finals and finals have no neutral area, since tickets go to the two clubs, and persistent standing is not permitted at football matches.

Concerts use the pitch for standing, so crowds can exceed the sporting capacity; the venue publishes no concert figure. Resale listings for the Noah Kahan date include the South Stand upper tier and numbered blocks. For the layout of the bowl, see the Hampden Park seating plan.

Getting there

The venue advises against driving on event days. Nearby parking is reserved for residents and businesses, there are no set-down or pick-up points, and car park passes go only to clubs, governing bodies and promoters. Public transport is straightforward instead:

  • Train: Mount Florida and King's Park stations are each a five-minute walk from the stadium, with trains from Glasgow Central on the Cathcart Circle lines.
  • Bus: First Glasgow routes 5, 6, 7, 7A, 31, 34 and 90 run from the city centre.
  • On foot: allow about 45-50 minutes from the city centre.

Bring one bag at most, no larger than A4 or a standard handbag; backpacks, laptop bags, travel cases and large tote bags are refused, and searches are a condition of entry. Prams and pushchairs cannot be brought in, and there is nowhere to store them. Kiosks and hospitality bars are cashless and contactless, with no cash machines inside, and there is no re-entry once you are through the turnstiles, which generally open 90 minutes before kick-off at football.

Hospitality

Barclays Hampden Hospitality runs the premium side of the stadium: VIP Gold and Silver Lounge packages, Club Hampden membership and VIP experiences for concerts. The lounges and executive boxes are in the South Stand, and the North Stand's small gallery also connects to lounges.

Frequently asked questions

How big is Hampden Park?

Barclays Hampden seats 51,866 for sporting events, in an all-seated bowl of four stands. The single-tier East Stand alone holds about 12,800 and the North Stand about 9,100. Concert crowds can be larger because the pitch is used for standing, but the venue does not publish a concert capacity.

How do I get to Hampden for a concert?

By train: Mount Florida and King's Park stations are each a five-minute walk away, with services from Glasgow Central on the Cathcart Circle lines. First Glasgow buses 5, 6, 7, 7A, 31, 34 and 90 run from the city centre, or it is a 45-50 minute walk. Avoid driving, as nearby parking is kept for residents and businesses and there are no drop-off points.

Where is the best place to sit at Hampden Park?

For the closest view, pick a side stand: the two-tier South Stand, which is the main stand, or the North Stand opposite. The East and West Stands behind the goals are set well back because of the bowl shape, and the back of the East Stand is up to 140 metres from the pitch.

Which end do Celtic and Rangers fans sit at Hampden?

At Old Firm cup ties the East Stand is usually the Celtic end and the West Stand the Rangers end, though allocations are confirmed for each match. For cup semi-finals and finals, tickets are allocated to the two clubs and there is no neutral area, so supporters should buy within their own club's allocation.

What bags can I take into Hampden?

One bag per person, no larger than A4 or a standard handbag. Backpacks, laptop bags, travel cases and large tote bags are not allowed, searches are a condition of entry, and prams and pushchairs cannot be brought in, with no storage on site. Inside, the stadium is cashless and contactless, with no cash machines.
